How long did it take you to get yours those who have recently applied? Also, do I just show the post office my birth certifactes, or do I actually send them off? We cruise in Jan. TIffany

It's taking 4 to 8 weeks for your passports to get back to you. Yes you will have to send your birth certificates with your paper work, along with a passport photo.

They only took three weeks to get here.
Not bad at all.

You have to send your BC in and old passports (if you have one).

We processed 3 back on Sept. 20th. Got 2 yesterday and 1 today. (4 weeks and 1 - 2 days)

Processed one on Sept 21st and still have not gotten it. Called passport center and they said they just started processing it this week.

I mailed my renewal Sept. 20th and havent recieved it back.

Guess it is all according to when they hit a desk and into someone's hands!

We received all 5 of ours in exactly four weeks. A friend of mine got hers and her hubby's in 2 weeks. :)

You can always get a new birth certificate, if necessary! :thumbsup2

My DW and I brought both our birth certificates and old passports along and all that was sent in was our old PP. DS did not have a PP at that time so his BC was sent in with the application. It only took about five weeks to receive them.

I was nervous about sending in my birth certificate, not because I couldn't have gotten another one if they lost it, but because it was the original birth certificate issued only 3 days after I was born. I kinda had a sentimental attachment to it, though I'm not sure why. The post office reassured me that the State Dept. doesn't routinely loose them. :thumbsup2

Its not the SD I am worried about. ITs the postal service! Sorry but true!

Edited to add: If you have time, order another BC and send that one in not the one you are attached to!

Was anyone nervous sending in their birth certificate?
I was. I obtained a second copy of all birth certificates before I applied. Sent one off and kept one, just in case.

We applied in Sepember 15, 2006 and received them either Friday, Oct. 13, Saturday, Oct. 14 or Monday, October 16. (We were out of town so I'm not sure exactly what day they arrived!!) So, that was about 4 weeks! :cool1:

DW was smart enough to order 2 copies for both our kids, both issued the day our kids were born, so always have a spare. As I have posted before, SOME youth sports groups now require that you give them a certified copy of your child's birth certificate for them to KEEP for the season. This usually only happens for special tournaments. I know in Little League baseball, if your child makes ALLSTARS, this is the case. IF your child is lucky enough to a team that makes the LL World Series, that could be 2 months.

Thanks looks like I need some good luck. :thumbsup2

I had posted on another thread that I had gotten back 2 of my kids passports back but they did not return thier old passports...Now, I get mine back with the old one but missing the BC. We had a hard time getting one of my sons processed in the beginning. So, thats what I mean about having such bad luck!
