Ok so I'm looking for opinions and will obviously make my own decision in the end but I'm having trouble with it right now.

I'd decided not to get the PAP because I didn't have the money right now. Then I got a nice bonus at work :cool1: and am debating. I have a trip planned for December 3-12 2013 but at this point don't have a trip planned in 2014. I'd say there's an 80% chance I could swing a 2014 trip and a 20% chance I couldn't afford to....so do I buy the pass in the hope that I get that 2014 trip in or just buy a park hopper for the trip I know for sure I'm taking??

If I only do one trip the park hopper is cheaper....I just can't seem to make up my mind. Thanks.

I don't see this as a PAP question. I see this as a question of your ability to use the PAP. If you think there is a greater than 50/50 chance that you can do a trip prior to Dec. 3, 2014, then it makes a lot of sense to do the PAP. If there is a less than 50/50 chance, then it's a grab bag decision for you to make.

Thanks for the response :thumbsup2

Sounds like your December 2013 trip will be 9 nights / 10 days December 3-12 2013 ). To me, an annual pass is the best option. 9 day PH MYW adult is $365. 10 day PH MYW ticket is $375. DVC PAP is $399. All prices are w/o tax. So for either $34 more or $24 more, you get option to take another trip plus water park admissions, golf green fees & DQ access plus 20% merchandise discount. I'd consider the extra $35 or $24 as insurance - in case I did find a way to go again in 2014.

That said, if you get the DVC PAP (or any annual pass for that matter), I think there is a 100% chance you will do at least one trip in 2014. Those annual passes burn a hole in your pocket and pretty much nag you to death until you get the additional trip(s) scheduled. :teeth:

i agree with the post right above. If you will have the ability to use these passes for at least 10 days total (one or two trips) then go for it. Personally I would do the PAP because it would encourage me to do a trip in 2014 (scrimp save find a way)

That's kind of where I'm at with it and I agree I'll probably do all I can to get there in 2014 and then I won't need a ticket I'll just need one in 2014 for my son since he'll be 2 1/2 next year and won't need one.

I just needed fellow Disney Addicts to agree with me lol

Your trip looks like 9 days .... We just returned from a 9 day trip. The park hopper my MIL purchased was $50 less than our PAP...we easily made the difference up in savings with the 20% discount on all retail.

I'm in kind of the opposite position...I'm *hoping* to take a trip November 7-12, 2013, but I *know* that we will be taking a family trip in 2014 also. The 2013 trip will be DH and I (no kids) or I will go with a friend and DH will stay home. I would like to buy a PAP for me before the end of the year, but if the November 2013 trip doesn't happen (DH can't get off of work, nobody willing to come with me, etc), then I won't be able to go in time to get it activated and I will be out the $400. OTOH, if I get one, it will give me the 20% merchandise discount (needed with 2 shopaholic daughters:lmao:) and it's cheaper than the AP. Since we would get a 5-day PH (currently $300 from UCT), it isn't that much more to get the PAP....BUT...it's a lot of money to throw away if my November trip doesn't pan out. Oh, what a quandry:worried:.
