Another One Bites the Dust

I'm becoming more and more confused about the purpose of Hollywood Studios. As a previous poster mentioned..this can't all be for Star Wars. No more animation actively being made, the hat blocking the never updated GMR, stunt shows discontinued, and a painfully gradual pulling apart of the Backlot Tour. HS has some great attractions, but it's losing it's core.

Well then where the hell is Star Wars Land going to go???

;)

Where Star Tours currently is as well as expanded to Sounds Dangerous and Superstar Television Theater (formally ABC Theater). I have heard that they think it is going to also take over Indy, but don't know for sure. And, I wouldn't be surprised to see them expand into the backstage area behind Star Tours. Currently, that is where they have break rooms and management offices. They used to hold the cars and floats for parades, but we all know that those are gone. There is a lot of space back there for an expansion that won't have to take over the rest of the park. In my opinion, that is the way to go. DHS is, by far, the smallest of the 4 parks. It would be in the best interest of the park to expand and not just redo various areas of the park. It's crucial to the integrity of the theme to not have Star Wars take over entirely. It doesn't even need to be half of the park. A full blown expansion of the entire park is most desirable. If that isn't going to happen, at least an expansion for Star Wars Land rather than just changing current attractions.

Some see (let's face it) low-traffic attractions going away. I see space opening up for something better... hopefully...!! :)

They could do Carsland (Radiator Springs Racers and Mater's Junkyard Jamboree) where the Stunt Show stadium is and add Mike & Sully to the Rescue from DCA and Ratatouille from DL Paris to Pixar Place and perhaps something Pixar which is unique to DHS.

Very sad... loved the props and costumes. :(

I don't want to see Backlot go...

Fair enough, but I doubt they would do both Star Wars Land and Cars Land (on top of Avatarland over at AK and just finishing NFL at MK). And if it was between Cars Land and Star Wars Land, I'd rather have Star Wars Land.

This will not be an issue when they re-name it again. Rumor going around that the name and focus of this park will be changing. ;)

Identity Crisis Studios?

I'm sad to see this go, especially the store. I feel like we're running low on places to buy merchandise that is a little different from the usual park-themed stuff. I enjoyed looking at the books and autograph collections in this store and usually found something I hadn't seen anywhere else.

A lot of people (myself included) would be disappointed if it didn't include an E-ticket ride. But everything else you suggest sounds great.

Yes, I guess you're right. I do expect that they will put one is so I guess I would be disappointed as well. But I would be MORE disappointed if they put in an e-ticket ride but DON'T make it an immersive experience like Harry Potter.

It is my personal hope (and I'm sure Disney is chomping at the bit to get my opinion, right?) that they are going to do a massive expansion on DHS and soon. It is easily my favorite park but it is clear, even to me, that is is suffering a big of an identity crisis. So, unless they want to rename is Cybil Studios, I think that they need to do a major expansion and rename it. The way I see it, just about everything in that park fits into one of fave categories: Old Hollywood, Disney, Pixar, Muppets, or Lucas. Because of that, and because of how the park was originally intended to be themed, I'd rename DHS to just "The Studios". I'd have it designed so you felt like you were walking around actual studios and then, when you entered a ride or attraction, you were suddenly in the picture. Tower of Terror and Great Movie Ride do a great job with this. It would take some moving of attractions, restaurants, shows, and such, but I think it can be done relatively inexpensively.

I'd move Mama's and Sci Fi closer to Sunset Blvd. as part of Hollywood Studios. The waitstaff at Mama's would sing just like at Miceli's. I'd move Hollywood and Vine closer to Animation Courtyard to be part of Disney Studios. I'd also bring in some old Fantasyland rides to this area such as Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and Snow White's Scar Adventures. This would also be an excellent area for a Frozen ride. I'd expand Pixar back towards Backlot Tour and bring Radiator Springs Racers, Mater's Junkyard Jamboree, and Mike and Sully to the Rescue from DCA. I'd also do a ride similar to Jumpin' Jellyfish themed for Up. I'd relocate Pizza Planet over here including the arcade. I'd also give Remi a Ratatouille-themed restaurant. Muppets would be expanded to where it would meet Pixar Studios. A roller coaster themed for Great Gonza would be added as well as The Great Muppet Movie Ride that was originally intended to be here. I would also add a crazy car ride themed after The Muppet Movie. Gonzo and Rizzo would have a counter service restaurant where Electric Mayhem would play and Swedish Chef would get a restaurant, as well. Finally, all that has been discussed with Star Wars Land would definitely still happen and it would all be part of Lucas Studios. Along with all of that (Cantina restaurant, more rides, expanded Jedi Training Academy, etc.), Indy would also have a larger presence. The ride is very popular at Disneyland and I see no reason not to bring it to Florida.

The idea is to get more family attractions here. I love this park but it has been terribly neglected. Star Wars Land is going to be a great improvement, but without further expansion, I worry that it will take over the rest of the park and create a bigger identity crisis than already exists. With the expansion, it will help with over crowding of other parks and give all of those people staying in the new DVC resorts fun new attractions.

Jenna, I'm not sure if you have a full time job, but I request if you do that you quit it immediately and apply to be an Imagineer. I love the concept of breaking up DHS into lands like at MK, eadch with it's own distinct theme. Only other thing I'd add is a Wall-E space themed ride which could serve as a nice bridge from Pixar Land to Lucasville.

Thank you. That put a big smile on my face. And I love the Wall-E to Lucasville idea. Genius.
