Not sure if our DIS neighbours to the south are aware but Canada is a week away from federal election day. By law, our campaigns run from 36 to 50 days (no months or even years of strife for us). The election was rather unexpectedly called on August 15 and we vote on September 20.

As crazy as things are here, the people working at the polls are the Best! So friendly and helpful, I hope it's that way for you too.
It's never crazy at our polls. Most of them in our city are in schools so sometimes there are groups of students there observing and learning about democracy in action and their civic duty. 
That makes me very proud.
And then we wait...). Results aren't broadcast until the last polls on the West coast are closed but depending on how it goes, the whole shebang can be decided before those votes are even counted. Woot!! Sounds like fun, right!!

The polls themselves are well-organized and efficient and everything runs smoothly but with a little buzz of excitement. We don't have electronic voting or voting machines - it's all good old fashioned marking an X on a paper ballot with a lead pencil. You drop the ballot into the box yourself and usually the whole process, start to finish takes about 3 minutes.
Votes start being counted at 8:00 pm local times, when the polls close. Due to the sea-to-sea nature of Canada, it is 4 hours later in the East than the West. (4-and-a-half in Newfoundland - that's for NFLDERS
Well I'm not a dancer, but one thought occurs to me. What type of footwear will be most prevalent? If people are wearing dressy shoes they might hesitate to dance on the ground. But maybe this is a very casual event w/no expensive shoes? Or maybe people remove their shoes to dance? OK now I'm asking more questions than providing helpful feedback
We did look for it briefly that night, didn't see it. After a few days ventured out the front door. I am still ginger about going out the front door but haven't had any sightings ( fingers crossed it stays that way). We've had the sprinklers running a lot as my husband planted some seed in various parts of the lawn so maybe just maybe that has made the snake not want to be here..one can hopeYikes!
When we went in August to vote for the primary (just had city council and a school board position for our area on the ballot) as I was signing my name during check in the gentleman started up a conversation about me being left handed and the world just not made for left handed people and how left handed people sit on horses. It was sweet, the guy that took my blank ballot to the machine was behind this guy and you could tell he knew he was a talker. I don't mind the small chit chat though
Generally the weddings I've been to people like to dance but knowing who are attendees also makes a difference. Personal opinion I agree with PollyannaMom if there's a bit of room in the budget I would do it but I also agree with Ron if it's just way too expensive with that small of a wedding it's not the be it all if a specific dance floor isn't there.
