On a happier? maybe/maybe not note humanity is still around...my husband was expecting a package from FedEx today. It got delivered while I was upstairs. I came downstairs and there's the package but also a note from the FedEx driver. They put on the note taped to the window facing the direction so I could see it from the inside that there was a baby rattlesnake chilling in the crack at the top of the stairs to get to our front door (the concrete stairs is slightly separated from the porch concrete)
Bless the FedEx driver for being brave enough to come back up the stairs to even post that note (well I assume that's what they did).
It's not entirely surprising we have rattlesnakes and copperheads in our neighborhood, it's their natural habitat. My husband as well as many other neighbors have had copperheads in the landscape by the front door (shudder) and I've even walked past a coiled up copperhead several times and didn't even realize it (double shudder) but I'm sure not going to go out the front door and down the steps to verify that it's still there, or that it's a rattlesnake vs a copperhead. But I did call to let my husband know that...maybe he'll be brave enough to check when he gets home
and here I was going to try and spruce up the front landscaping if we had time this weekend but nope probably not going to happen now.
