Another lovely day in Oklahoma. . .

I remember the historic area and how quiet Fort Smith was. There seemed to be almost no one around. It was a Sunday.

Have you ever had to deal with a dog that tangled with a skunk? Sometimes dogs have no sense at all.

Oh yeah.

Not this year so far this year thank goodness, but 3 times in the past 5 years we've had our current two dogs.

The smell is horrible, and it's too hot just to lock them out, so I try washing them in the tub.

It's a nightmare and really doesn't get rid of the smell- you just have to live with it a couple weeks until it wears off.

I don't let them out at night unless I smell the air first- I'd rather they pee on the floor than get sprayed.

Doesn't tomato juice supposedly help? I've never had a cat get into that kind of trouble. Or mess with a porcupine. Really? :sad2:

Two WEEKS...!?

Holy wow.

Note to self: No skunk smuggling

So you lived in Texarkana, PG?

Such a weird town!

One side of the main st. was 'dry' and the other had bars and liquor stores.

I almost got run over a couple times staying there! :scared1:

:rotfl2:

Back before I became an atheist I was studying to enter into the ministry. I was great at giving sermons. When I was in college I had an internship at a church in Texarkana that shall remain nameless so I don't tarnish their good reputation by associating it with me. The people were nice but the town was odd. For example, there are 4 churches in the town that claim that they are the First Baptist Church of Texarkana. Not all of them call themselves that but they all still lay claim to that title. Apparently they keep fighting so they keep splitting.

Long after I left the church a cousin of mine was called to become the senior minister of one of those churches. He's a really nice and funny guy who everyone gets along with. Before he left I warned him about those churches. This guy has been minister of multiple churches in big cities and small towns and has served as a missionary in multiple countries. Very little shakes him. He last less than a year before his experience at that church caused him to leave the ministry. You'll never guess what he became right after that. A high school astronomy teacher. The teenagers loved him. He's now retired and is a popular part-time docent at a large science museum in town. He's even appeared in the local paper.

I always love a happy ending! :)

And yeah, like I said, Texarkana is a weird place. . . you can practically hear the banjo song from 'Deliverance' when you pull into town.

:scared1:

Tried to go walking at 10 tonight and it was still 91 with a heat index of 100. That's insane!

I know!!

I let my dogs out a few minutes ago and it still is brutal out.

They did there business in about 30 seconds and came flying back in.

:scared1:

I'm very grateful you're here Sherry to back me up on this stuff. . . it's been miserable here this summer.

:)

It really has! I've been watching my neighbor's dogs and they are the same way. I let them out and they turn around and ask to come right back in!! LOL

We really need to get together and have a beer some time. :)

Tell you what, come over and get the rest of the downed limbs out of my yard, and I'll sit on the patio and have a beer!

;)
