Another lovely day in Oklahoma. . .

East of Memphis, but closer to it than Nashville. Would love to be in East TN, though!
I grew up in western NC, about 45 minutes from Johnson City. I also have relatives in the Knoxville area.

As a side note, we're so looking forward to our trip to Nashville & Memphis. I told DH I don't want to wish my life away, but the end of Dec. can't get here soon enough. NYE in Nashville should be a blast.

Good morning Jo! :)

We're going to forget all that hooliganism from last night; here's your breakfast:

We lived in Knoxville for several years. It was the best place we have ever lived (just barely surpassing my beloved eastern OK, of course!), and I hope we end up there again before it's all said and done. Probably a little outside the city, though, since we need a few acres. There's something wonderful about being able to drop everything and head to the mountains for a beautiful hike.

What all are you planning to do for your Memphis/Nashville trip? Yes, Nashville should be fun for NYE. Lots of partying downtown, I'm sure.

My relatives actually live in Maryville, but I didn't know if you'd know where that is. My niece & her DH bought a home there about 20 years ago. It has grown like crazy, since then. Both of their girls stayed in that area also.

I don't know if you saw my Nashville thread, but DS is in his last years of college, so we won't have many more trips, before he's on his own. :sad1: DH & I decided we'd allow him to choose the destinations of our trips for as long as he can travel with us. He chose for our next trip to be to Nashville & Memphis, because he's an amateur musician who loves all things music related. We plan to visit all the music related museums, plus Graceland & the Civil Rights Museum. If we have time, I want to work in a trip to Opryland Hotel to see the Christmas decorations, but that's not a priority for this trip. Food is also a major part of our vacations. We've chosen our Memphis restaurants for dinner, but we're still trying to narrow down our restaurant choices in Nashville. Some of the places we'd like to try in Nashville won't work out, due to other evening plans. :( We have Ryman Grand Ole Opry tickets on the 30th & plan to buy Acme VIP tickets for NYE as soon as they become available. Fingers crossed we'll get them before they sell out. If not, I have a few backup plans. We're still trying to decide, if we want to spend $600 to eat at Catbird Seat. On one hand, it's :scared1: expensive for three adults, with wine pairings. OTOH, its a unique experience that we may not have the opportunity to experience again. I'm going to keep reading the latest reviews, before we decide for sure. We booked hotels near Beale Street in Memphis & Broadway in Nashville, so we can spend our nights there, after dinner. If you have any suggestions for attractions or dining in either location, please feel free to share. :)

Because my breakfast was simply delicious I'm going to ignore the 'bear' :P

But I need to know, do you have bears in OKlahoma?

Yeah, we do.

Smallish black bears and you almost never hear of any human/bear encounters, but there are some in the state.
