Another lovely day in Oklahoma. . .

Yikes! DD in Seattle is in the same sitch. She is still working from home, but has no central air conditioning. She bought a couple of window units for her home.
We spent this past weekend gathered in my home town 500 miles north of here due to a death in the family. It was in the low 30’sC for four days straight - practically unprecedented. My nephew drove up from Portland (don’t get me started on border controls :sad2: ) and it hit 41C (106F) back there while he was gone. And nary a drop of rain anywhere on the western quarter of the continent for weeks.

Sincere condolences.

My brother and his family in B.C. have had 40+ temps since the week end. They have AC, but alot of Vancouver Islanders do not.. :sad1: Hang in there..

It was brutal here in Maine at the beginning of the week, in the mid-90s for three or four days. It was 89F in my family room for three consecutive evenings, and we have no a/c. Also no way to put any in, as our windows are casement windows; the hinges are on the verticle side of the window and you crank the window so it opens by swinging out. It was awful. We put DD's hamster, Mia, in the basement but it's not a finished basement nor does it have furniture, so DH and I couldn't hang out there with her. We resorted to cold showers and sitting/sleeping with fans blowing directly on us. Also went for drives each evening so we could sit in the a/c in the car. I am on sick leave so couldn't go into work for the a/c (the University freaks out about that- liability, you're on sick leave, what if something happens...). It was really brutal. Of course, today I was at the grocery store, wearing a tee shirt, jeans, and a hoodie, because now we are having cold damp weather. It's true, what they say about New England... if you don't like the weather, wait a minute!

Is it true about a minute? We were told 5 minutes! lol...

We decided to take our ebikes on their first road trip!

We have booked a 3 night stay in August near an incredible bike trail system.

Our past bike experiences were memorable, but the distance we can enjoy with our ebikes will be more so.

Enjoy your summer too!
Have fun! We’d love e-bikes and have rented them several times on excursions but purchasing is out of our price range. :wave2:

The car carrier arrived today! It was an arduous wait (for my impatient husband) 87 Business Days, midway through his wait, I had to remind him those are business days from purchase, and then all the way from Kamloops B. C. :moped:

I see so many people on bikes and they look like they are really enjoying themselves. I haven't been on a bike in 50+ years, my balance isn't great, and I'm pretty sure I'd be injured within the first half hour. Also, the last time I was on a bike nobody was wearing a helmet, it would just be weird to me. I think I'll just stay on foot, which I can mostly manage.;)

Bringing King Schultz's thread around today to wish him a very Happy Birthday. Hoping that wherever you are, Willy J, that you are having a great time. I'd be willing to bet that you are. Have a beer, maybe two, a shot of NyQuil, a slice or two of birthday cake, or whatever suits your fancy. It's your birthday, your choice! :cake: :drinking1 Or, have all the aforementioned.

We sure do miss you here, Willy. Have not seen nor heard from you in five years now. But I'm sure you are doing okay in your own right.

One of the best times I had with Willy, was back 18 years ago at Cedar Point and our dis Riddle-Con. A few fun pictures from that weekend.....

Happy Birthday, King Schultz!! Have one (or a few) for us. :drinking1:cake:

Nice post Dan, thanks for doing that. Willy's whereabouts is one of the great mysteries of the internet, sure hope he is well. What was the deal with the cough syrup? Was that a joke?

Back "in the day", when Willy, I and several others were moderators here on the cb, there was a lot of interaction between the moderator type people and everybody else here. Not so much now. We would get threads going every day/night to stimulate interaction between the members here. They were sort like live chat. A lot of back and forth 'small talk', 'quick talk'. Also, there was actually a 'chat room' here on the dis back then (I don't think there is one any more). It was moderated, ran from like 8-10/11 every night. We each took turns moderating that also.

As you know from when Willy was here, he is a very knowledgeable guy and a very eloquent, entertaining, amusing writer. Also, it was known that Willy liked to 'tip a few' now and then, for real. NyQuil has a pretty high percentage of alcohol as one of its ingredients (I do think it is blown out of proportion in everyday conversation though). He started to incorporate in his writings here in threads and chat that he would be sipping on his NyQuil during the evenings. It became part of his brilliant persona.

He was such a blast, both here on the cb as well as when he was either moderating the chat room or just participating. He would have people in stitches. He is such a character.

Here on the Wayback Machine is the forum lineup back in 2001. The seven people we had on the cb were such a great mix of people, including WillyJ. They are all gone from here now, along with almost all of the other forum moderator type people from the other forums. :( Lots of good people there.

And Dan, thanks for such great pics and memories. It's hard to believe it was soooo long ago. :goodvibes:

Wow, Dan, talk about a blast from the past. I remember when the boards looked like that- and that was an update- and remember a lot of the names listed. Wow...

Happy birthday, WillyJ. Know that you are missed- and still appreciated.
