What kind of soap do you use for the machines? I was planning on brining pods but now thinking maybe brining a small bottle of liquid or powder. I only use TIDE because my DS is hard on his clothes, I also hang dry most of his stuff, I am actually bringing items needed to hang them
TIA

I used whatever they were selling in the machines on DCL, but I don't remember what it is! If you need to use a special kind of detergent, I would bring it with you. We bring pods when we stay in the WDW villas. I find them much easier to pack than powder or liquid which I'm always afraid will spill in my luggage. I put a few pods and dryer sheets in a small tupperware container and I'm good to go!

For my first few cruises I used to purchase whatever they are selling in the machines on the ship (I don't recall if it includes Tide). However I've started packing/using Purex complete 3-1 laundry sheets which are easier to pack.

I bring pods. My husband doesn't like scented detergent so I have to bring. I pack them in a Tupperware type container. I have used them in the machines on the wonder and the fantasy, no issues worked great

As mentioned above, we also bring the Tide Pods (or whatever you prefer) and put them in a ziplock bag, in a rubbermaid container so nothing breaks or leaks. We also bring a few of our dryer sheets since they don't take up any luggage space and several times the sheets have been sold out on board. We've never had any issues and just disembarked the Wonder yesterday and I think we did three total loads the past week.

I used to bring the 3-in-1 Purex sheets but found light blue dots on my clothing after being washed. Now I bring no colour/no scent pods and scented dryer sheets. I also pack them in containers just in case.

I would bring dry, but then I'd have to buy a big box of it and have no other place to use it. I did read one person's suggestion to soak a few face cloths in liquid soap, let them dry out and double ziplock them to use one per machine. That's an idea, especially if you have old cloths you might just toss out after anyway. We can't get the Purex sheets here, otherwise I might do that. Pods are the best option.

We have to use perfume free soap. Now that they have the sensitive pods available, I can finally bring them instead of the liquid -- which when it leaks (even in a baggie) is not fun.

I do, however, like the recommendation of two PP about putting them in rubbermaid. Never thought of that, but great extra protection.

Before we leave, I go to my local laundromat and get a couple of the Downy free packets since they don't sell the perfume free on the ship.

I bring Washeze sheets (got them at the Post Exchange at Travis AFB) and Color Catcher so I can mix whites with color clothes incase I don't have a full load for each.

I've previously used whatever is in the machines. However, I just bought Washeze sheets from Amazon, as our next is is a 14-night Panama Canal, and I don't want the machines to run out, and we are packing light.

In the past (and maybe this has changed), but if the machines run out we used to be able to go to guest services for supplies.

We use Wash-Eze sheets, soap, softener and antistatic all in a single sheet.

Last week on the Mediterranean cruise, the machine that dispenses the soap that you can buy was out-of-order, and the just had a small bucket with a scoop so people that needed it got free soap. I need to use perfume/dye-free detergent, so I still used the pods that I had brought.

I was planning on not washing but DBF will only have 4 pairs of shorts for a 2 week cruise (EBPC next week!) plus 1 day pre departure and 5 days at WDW post cruise. I'm like ... Yeah, we need to launder.
I'm planning on bringing a small bottle of liquid detergent I bought at the dollar store.

On our first cruise, we brought All Free & Clear small & mighty pods. Mistake.

The first load of laundry I stayed a little bit and watched just how very full of suds the little washer got. Then, I came back near the end of the cycle when it was still doing a rinse, and there were still lots of suds. It took FOUR full cycles (at $2 each...) to get the water to run without suds. Lesson learned: the washers are too small for the pods.

The second and subsequent trips I brought All Free & Clear small & mighty liquid detergent in a Nalgene container (I like the narrow mouth 250 mL from their travel kit, though some places also sell it separately: http://store.nalgene.com/product-p/9941-0001-12.htm ). Although it is leakproof, I still put it inside two Ziploc bags (the same as I do for shampoo and other liquids); so far it has not leaked. I also bring a small plastic measuring spoon that has markings for 1 tsp and 1 tbsp. Experience over the last three cruises demonstrated we only needed about 1 teaspoon of detergent to do the job. yes, 1 teaspoon. compare that to how much is in a pod !! even then, we still have to do a second cycle as a "rinse" cycle to get all the detergent out -- but better than 4 !

We have now discovered that I can tolerate Sunlight sensitive skin liquid laundry detergent, which we can buy locally here in Canada [the All brand is only available in the USA, which meant cross-border trips to buy detergent...]. So in the future we will use Sunlight. But still the liquid in a Nalgene with the measuring spoon.

I also have an inexpensive rubbermaid-type container I bought on a work trip several years ago. It seals well (the lid clips down to help hold the seal), and I put the laundry detergent and some other items into it >> keeps them coralled well and if they leak out of their ziploc it is into the container which is also leakproof [so far, so good]. FWIW< I bought it at Target and have seen them there within the last year, in different sizes. It might be Sterilite brand ?
