Another Ladies Thread - I Hold In My Hand...

...the wire from my bra. It poked through tonight. The SECOND one this week! And these things are so darned expensive!!! There is NO WAY that I will ever pay full price for a bra (I always get them off of the clearance racks) until they can figure out a way for those wires to STAY PUT!!!




PS - Although I don't hand launder them, I never put them in the dryer. Do you think that hand washing is the answer to a longer bra life???

I've never had that happen to mine! I usually put them in the dryer.

Yuck! That's one of the reasons I avoid underwires like the plague. Those nasty things poke me even when they are in the bra!

Nope didn't hurt - just looked stupid at first sticking out there before I PULLED it out.

And I have never heard about that movie - guess I will have to look to rent it this weekend.

Maybe that is the trick - buy cheap ones.

All of my bras that I wear right now were bought since the beginning of the year and I don't machine wash or dry them, but none of the wires have popped through yet. So since they're not that old I don't know if it's because they're new (don't know how long you had had yours) or because of not putting them in the machine. Certainly can't hurt to keep them out of the machine though.

Most were bought at the after Christmas clearances. I hate the thought of hand washing. My washing machine has a hand wash cycle which I never use. Perhaps I should give it a try. I just hate filling the machine (even on VERY LOW it is still a lot of water) for just a couple of things.
What to do..what to do???

Hand washing is the key! I *have* to have those darned underwire bras, as well....frickle frackle, grumble, grumble. If ever I get tired of handwashing and try to wash them in the washer, then the wires start slowly coming out.

i don't wear underwires. don't like them. i like sports bras too, but then i am a 34b.

Funny you should mention this. I just got through mending several bras this week. I just stick the wire back in there and sew them up. They are too expensive to keep buying new ones all of the time.

I can't do the sports bra thing either. I call it the uniboob.

Never tried 'uniboob' before and, I truly dislike underwire. Why on earth does my rib cage have to hurt while wearing one? Yuck. 100% cotton and comfortable for me and, it's NOT easy to find a good one, no matter the cost!
