I make a habit of checking my walls and ceilings before going to bed - just in case there are any spiders trying to share my bed - if there are - I kill them.

DD has picked up this goofy habit. Last night she took her contacts out and couldn't see, so she asked me to check her room. I did, and lo and behold - there was a big spider on her ceiling - and he was FAST.

Luckily DH was home so he could get it. I never would have stopped that one, maybe not even with the vacuum.

Always check your ceilings before retiring.:D

Do you live in a cave?:earseek:
I would be freaking out if I had to check for spiders every night...:earseek:

After reading this, I admit... My eyes glanced up at the ceiling.

That's funny, most of the time that is exactly where I find them in my house too!!!
I killed two the other day, both on the ceiling in my kitchen.
My son says I have some sort of "spider sense". He says I'm the best at finding them. Then he laughs at me while I'm trying to kill them.

It reminds me of when I was in Hawaii  the spider in my room was HUGE

Is your name Peter Brady?;)

I got my mail out of my mailbox yesterday and as I was carrying it to the house I noticed a spider peaking over the edge of the mail! EEK! I dropped the mail on the hood of the car and the spider got squished:teeth:
Anyone else ever get spider mail?

Yes. And Bee mail too.

Of course I check for spiders before I go to bed!!! They may come and take me away while I sleep  My husband thinks I am a total freak because I cannot go to sleep until I do a thorough spider check....I'm such a bad wife that I even wake him up if he goes to bed before me and I find a spider that needs to be taken care off. :guilty:

A friend of mine lives in Hawaii right now, and she says the spiders over there ARE huge! She does have to check the walls before going to bed!! Yuck.

Ugh..that just made me shiver. I hate spiders!!! :scared:

GREAT!!!!! Now I have to start checking EVERYTHING before I go to bed.
I hate spiders and I think they hate me as well. They are Satan's pawns.

I agree, kild! They are evil geniuses, out to take over the world... ;)

Can't get the photo to post -- darn. It's the biggest most horrible loking spider I've seen.

It's a picture of the giant spider that my niece tells me are all over the campus of the University of Sydney. But her dad told me it's okay, the bats come out at night to eat them! :earseek: :earseek:

Ok, so lets see here. We check the ceiling and the bed before we go to sleep for spiders--
got that one down----spider meets the great
spider maker in the sky

But ah, what happens in the middle of the night----
if spiders can crawl on the ceiling or in the bed
BEFORE I go to sleep, can't they crawl onto the
ceiling or into the the bed WHILE I am sleeping----
ok then its like party time for the spider---crawling
up and down and all around

Yes, we too get spiders in our house. I am always finding one, killing them and giving them a proper burial at sea. LOL

I have a friend at work who is terrified of them. She was bit by a brown spider as a child in the leg, and almost died she showed me the scar on her leg. It was awful, I guess the tissue was destroyed and left a hugh gap about 5 inches long.

One day someone at work brought in a Tarantula (sp) in a plastic pet case like you see in the pet stores. While they were holding it by the handle the whole bottom half dropped out leaving only the top with the handle. It fell to the floor and the spider when it landed actually hopped to the side of the desk and just stuck there about 10" from the floor. You never saw a room clear so fast. .:scared1: :scared:

They just scooped up the spider back into the case. We made them lock it in their desk until the end of the day

Another point of view:
Most spiders are harmless. They are GOOD because they eat tons of other bugs! Because of that it is traditionally considered bad luck to kill spiders.

Pixie_Dust,
You will never convert me!!

Sincerely,

Kild

:p

You want to see a spider?
Check out this monstrosity that our soldiers in Iraq have to deal with: (Brace yourself for this if you don't like spiders.)
