Another first for DCL?

Just to put it out there, I can't take credit for the pictures. The first one was sent to me from a friend onboard and the other two I found online while trying to find out if it was true that it's the first cruise ship through, but thought they were pretty cool.

According to the Disney Cruise Line Blog it IS the first passenger ship through.

I sure hope someone makes a trip report on this one!

Wow - when we went through (the original locks) I thought the ship was going to scrape both sides at once. Looking out the porthole the concrete lock wall was right there - I mean if the porthole had been open we could have touched it easily. Look at all the room now!!

We went on the Magic in 2008 through the canal (LA to PC) with what looked like maybe two feet of clearance on each side. What a contrast!!

Disney Wonder going through the new Panama Canal locks. Apparently the first passenger ship through...

Well, she had to use the new locks with her re-imagining. The duck tail makes her too big for the old locks. That's one reason they held off off on her last dry dock, to make sure she had a way to get to the west coast for Alaska.

Yep. I was just clarifying the "Apparently" statement. :)

I just wasn't sure if it was true that she was the first passenger ship through the new locks. I knew it was her first time going through though.
I just put apparently for it not to be right and then someone correct me lol.

Understood. :)

Ha, exactly what I was thinking!!!

Thanks for posting. We have sailed PC on both Disney and Princess. I remember getting off Princess at a port after the passage and they were already painting the sides of the
ship were they scraped. On the Wonder we went down to deck 2 to see the concrete lock wall, yes it was right there.

I have friends on this sailing who have been posting pics and FB live videos all day! She's such a beautiful ship! I'm hoping to do this cruise in 2019.
