Ok if I want to exchange to say Hawaii Marriot to a studio how many points will that take? I am really flexible with my dates. Now same question for a 1 BR...Should I be calling MS with these questions. I don't want to tie up their lines with the hypothetical questions. I am just still trying to decide where to go.

I know it says for one week off season it could be 124 but I am assuming that is just a range. ANyone have what they actually spent in points?

depends upon the season where you are going

1-bedroom
low 124
mid 144
high 160

2-bed
low 207
mid 252
high 270

to get the studio just take the 2-bed minus the 1-bedroom - you can also wait for Dean - he has the real numbers.

oh by the way thanks - these are the same points for both this year and next - I didn't realize that the points chart on the DVC member site had changed.

Dean also has the points for the GV.

I would just put asize 160 points - you know that figure will work.

Very few of the resorts have studios as I understand it. The World Passport Collection has now gone to a fixed number of points depending on season and size of unit. You can get the studio points by calling MS--it's not just subtracting the 1BR figure from the 2BR.

Studios are 106, 123 or 134, likely the latter but could be 123. The 1 BR is a better value for the extra points but asking for the studio will give you a much better chance of success. Remember the Marriott on Maui only has a partial kitchen, slightly more than a DVC studio, and that's true for the 1 BR as well. Why not run separate requests for a studio and a 1 BR or else only for a 1 BR and open up to a studio later on. Also look for a direct exchang with a member there.

Thanks Dean you rock! I knew you would hve the answer. 106 is reasonable to me. We are a family of 3 and not gonna grow so I would rather save points...Right now anyway since DS is still young! Thanks again Dean :)

Glad to help. Look on TUG and post on the DIS exchange site for say 80-100 points for a studio at the Marriott there. Not only would you be saving some points, you'ld likely get a much better unit and members priority for unit assignment. And with the 2 BR units being lockoff's, it's not uncommon an owner there has the studio as an extra and really don't have that much for plans for it.
