We are planning to spend 2 days ( june 2 & 3) at IOA and Universal studios before our cruise. We will stay onsite so will have fotl access. With the announcement of the Harry potter area opening that week how crazy do you think both of the parks will be. I'm scared!!!

I'd be scared too. I think I'd look into an alternative. We're going in August and are hoping that the hype is a little calmed down by then.

If you're so worried about it either go to Universal Studios or get up for the early guest entry to HP. Either way will have you going in the opposite direction of the HP mob. While they are rushing to get in line for HP you can stroll over to the other IOA rides. You also have 1 express line pass per day to HP so you can go again if it looks like the initial crowd has died down.

Just out of curiousity, where did you see an announcement that HP's opening will be that week? I would imagine it would be plastered all over this forum, you are the only one to mention it.

We're going June5-10th staying onsite. I think you might be a bit safer than a couple weeks later (that's what I'm hoping for). I believe most schools around get out after June 10th? At least in my state they do. That will hopefully thin out the school age crowd a bit.

I heard too that Harry Potter will open sometime around May 28th...that's when the Harry Potter packages availability starts on the website.

If you don't mind me asking, which cruise line did you choose? We are looking at a quick 3 or 4 day cruise rather than spending $1400 on Disney World tickets for 3 days for 5 of us! I've starting researching, but haven't figured it out yet. It looks about the same or almost cheaper to go on an all inclusive cruise for the same amount of days! (and we do Disneyland quite a bit here at home)

Thanks for the advice.

I guess it wasn't an official opening date announcement but the date that they will begin booking the Harry Potter vacation packages.
This is where I read about it:

I sure hope you are right about that !!

We booked the 4 night cruise on the Wonder sailing june 4th. We usually do a week in Disney in September (free dining) but my kids said they wanted to do something different this year :confused3. I was looking into the 4 night cruise the same week (June 2011) on the Dream and it is a lot cheaper than what we paid for the cruise this year. I'm not sure why.

I should have noticed your signature! Have a great time!
I think the first part of June will be perfect and exciting and easiest for onsite people ;)
