Another Co-Worker Rant...

Wow. I never had these problems when I was working. :confused3 We had communal refrigirators and I remember the only problem was trying to get people to clean out the month-old stuff they still had in there.

Use a common sense brick. Slam it against your co workers forehead until they understand.

It's not over! Miss Piggy just noticed the steaks were no longer in the fridge. She went ballistic saying she was going to bring in her hibachi so we could grill them up for lunch this week, and now "SOMEONE STOLE THEM!" :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
I Anne

Unbelievable!

You have GOT to be freaking kidding me...At first (I am 1/2 asleep) I thought the boss notice they were gone :rotfl: but I see it is Ms Oinkatoink!

What does your boss think of all of this?? :lmao:

I walked over to her and told her that they had been sent to ******* (my boss) not the office--and that he had asked me to take care of them for him. (I left it at that.) I said it in a very curt tone, and then just walked away.

The good co-worker was in her office wiping tears off her face she was laughing so hysterically.

What is with this woman?!?!?! :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

We used to have a pretty fancy holiday luncheon that was for staff, tenants, board members and other community leaders. One of my coworkers would swoop in a bag up a whole bunch of shrimp to take home to her family BEFORE the luncheon even began. I think this went on for two years and then FINALLY something was said to her. She still does this though with different food items. It is very annoying. And she's not on any type of fixed income.

The ocean called...

This is a huge pet peeve with my DH. Several times I've cooked food for his crew to eat at work. Huge pans of my homemade lassagna, my home made enchilada's, things like that. Well, the crews loves my cooking and I guess that word got around the other crew's that "DH's wife is an awesome cook" so now when the other crews see my DH bringing food, the other crews now try and come by to eat it, regardless if my DH's crew has had any yet or not (and it's not like there would be leftovers anyway, we ARE talking about 12 guys with bottomless pits for stomachs!). DH got so steamed after last time that he doesn't want me to cook for them again.

And in my office, last year we got a treat tower from Harry and David's sent to use by a client. We got it late in the day and hadn't opened it when we left for the day. Next morning it was gone! Our office is only accessable after hours to the cleaning crew. We hated to accuse them since prior to that we'd never had a problem, but we had to take it up with the building operations, it was a $100 gift tower! Operations asked the cleaning crew, they claimed they though it was trash and threw it away. WHY would you think unopen gift boxes were trash? So I guess the cleaning crew was either stupid or they lied about taking it (and I'm not sure what would be worse, wasteing perfectly good food or someone stealing it). Anyway, the company that was in charge of the cleaning crew reimbursed us the value of the gift and our department went out to lunch instead.

This year we got the treat tower again, so we broke it down and put it in the fridge. The cleaning crew doesn't clean our little fridge so hopefully it won't disapear this time.

MY boss doesn't know. Frankly he can't stand her, but she doesn't report to him, so... He has insisted that HER boss write her up twice in the past year for one thing or another (violations of company policy) once because I complained after she sent out my home address and phone to the entire company "by mistake." :furious: :furious: :furious: I don't remember the other issue offhand--I think another violation of someone's privacy though. In all honesty, my boss would be amused by the steak story, I'll tell him someday, but this week is bad, we've had some crisises he's been dealing with.

HER boss is new to the company and about 30 years younger than her. She treats him like he's her child. He is slowly changing that, I think eventually she'll leave because he'll put his foot down. I can tell that he's trying not to make too many waves until he's settled in and up to speed. Her former boss isn't a good "people manager." (they added a layer of management.) Very non-confrontational and doesn't like to have to discipline or correct people. Something like this he'd rather just watch play out. She hasn't really violated any company policy...yet. There's nothing in the employee handbook about being a rude "Ms Oinkatoink." :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

If I saw a tray of cookies on the counter at 5pm on Friday, I'd figure they were fair game. Who wants stale old cookies on Monday?
that's what i was thinking....... :thumbsup2

I'm on law review which, for those of you not in the know, is the premier student edited legal journal put out by a law school. Think long hours, tedious work. We all pitch in some cash in Sept to keep snacks and drinks in the office. Last year the beer seemed to be disappearing quickly - people might have one at the end of a long day, but people weren't getting drunk in the office. One night someone was pulling an all-nighter and left to go to the bathroom. When we walked back into the office, one of the University Police officers (actual police in NY) was standing next to the fridge. While we don't have proof, we're pretty sure the *cops* were taking the beer.

Like I said, they were well wrapped and would not have gone stale. I'm still working on some of them at home that I made at the same time. Gingerbread takes a long time to lose it's freshness, especially when it's been dipped in a glaze. :teeth:

I think the first part is very polyanna, but the second part is legitimage. If I saw a tray of cookies on the counter at 5pm on Friday, I'd figure they were fair game. Who wants stale old cookies on Monday?

But they weren't just sitting out, they were neatly wrapped up! I'd never dream of taking something like that.

It reminds me of when my DD's dance studio used to have parties. There was one family that would come in with all kinds of relatives -- grandmas, aunts, cousins, etc. Before the party was even over, they'd break out grocery bags and start pouring food into them.

You would think when things like that occur, people would step in and SAY something to the rude offenders. I guess when polite society is faced with actions like that, we tend to freeze up and not know what to do about it.

Do people really not know any better? :confused3
