Hi Guys!

Well I am probably in danger of getting annoying now :lmao: but I wondered if you fellow cat owners could help me with another query :thumbsup2

As I said in the other thread I have a kitten called Bailey and he will be 6 months old on Sunday.
The people who we got him from have just had kittens again and have asked if we want another one (also a boy). Have any of you brought new kittens into your home adding to existing cats? Will he be inclined to attack the kitten?
Would this be a huge mistake? :confused3
Any help would be much appreciated!

Not sure how it will be to start with but when they get used to each other they will be company for each other. I couldn't imagine only getting 1 we have always got 2 its great to see them playing together Baily is still young and will probably adapt well to a new friend good luck

you should be fine with two ! just remember that you will have double the bills as well;)

After the initial Spitting, hissing, minor fisticuffs, I'm the boss routine, they normally settle down quite well.

However, once they are used to each other there will be the "major" play battles in and around your house where they both try to knock seven bells out of each other and still go back for more. Beware if you try to separate them....they're armed with razorblades.:lmao:

They also tend to look after each other's backs when defending the territory as well.

When they do play battles do they ever get really injured?? And should I hide all ornaments away??

I had Coco for a year before I got Poppy May, the poor little thing virtually lived in our airing cupboard for a week, every time she ventured out he would hiss, spit and swat at her. He soon got used to her and now they are the best of friends, as Richard says there were and still are major play battles, he likes to lick her ears to lull her into a false sense of security and then take a bite of them ! It was hard work at first but I definately don't regret having the two of them now ...

We have a brother and sister who have aways gotten along very well but Fred went mising for 10 days last summer and after he returned they were very scared of each other, you would have thought they'd never met before but it didnt last long, They were soon back to play fighting and real fighting and knocking my stuff over everywhere

Get another, the advice we had before getting ours is two is best, they keep each other company and exercise each other while chasing/fighting but yes, I would hide the ornaments!

They also share a pen at the cattery when we're away which is some comfort that they have a familiar face away from home

:yay:

I know that one very well! It is almost funny to watch but I feel sorry for my little girl! Her brother is at least half as big again so she has no chance! However she can catch him out by hiding around corners and pouncing as he strolls past, something I'll never tire of watching!

Back to the topic at hand, I think it would be a good idea to get another cat as once they've had the inital period of getting used to each other they'll keep each other company, especially when they go on their holidays when you go to WDW!

My two are 6 months apart. When we brought Figaro home we introduced him to Cheeky through a glass door for a while so they could see oneanother but not get to oneanother. They were fine with that straight away so we let them in the same room together and they were fine from the start. They rarely fight (only if one wants to play and the other wants to sleep!!) and neither has ever hurt oneanother.
So I vote for getting another one, but just remember like someone else has said, double vets bills and double food costs!!

We want a picture of the new kitten , should you decide to go ahead :goodvibes
