Another book lover question.

Ever log onto Amazon to see when your fav author is releasing his/her next book, then show up at the book store that morning, buy it, then sit in the car in the parking lot and read the first chapter? One of my fav authors (Vince Flynn, Memorial Day) released a new book yesterday. I sat in the parking lot and read the first chapter, then went home and read half the book, I'll finish the rest tonight. I always finish his books in at least 2 days. Anyone else do this?

I think I would find a nice chair in Borders to sit and read it.

I read JD Robb/Nora Roberts books in a few hours. I can't go to sleep until I have it finished.

I totally do this!!! Sometimes I make my SO drive so I can read all the way home!!

I did even worse when the last Harry Potter book came out. I was at work that night and whenever it was slow, I read a couple of pages!

Well I don't sit in the car and read the first chapter, but I can finish a book in one night if it is really good.
My favorite author is Stephen King so finishing one of his books in one night is a challenge but I have done it.

I love Nora Roberts. If I get started on a good book, there isn't much else I will do until I finished. I gave my sister three of her books for her birthday. It was the key series. We both finished all three in about two days.

I NEVER go into Barnes and Noble for ONE book...I always come out with at least 3 or 4.

How do I figure out what to buy?

I grab at least a dozen, find a chair, and read the first chapter of each...if I'm grabbed, I'll buy it...if I could care less - NEXT!

I have to put books in the trunk when I go to the bookstore or the library. Otherwise, it's too tempting to try to read them at stoplights, and I know that's not safe.

Wow! You people LOVE your books. I can honestly I have never felt that way about a book. I would love to feel like that though. It takes me forever to read just one.

That's not a bad idea! At the very least I need to put mine at a spot in the car where I can't reach them. I've been known to sneak a peak at a page at the stop light.

If I get into a good book, I just can't put it down!!

I love my books and I'm another Nora Roberts fan!! I also love Catherine Colter and Jude Deveraux and Johanna Lindsey and Jo Goodman and on and on and on.

If I have something important going on on a certain day I know better than to pick up a book because I won't put it down and don't get me started on the series books.

I always look to see when they are releasing a new book, then I go to my library's web site and get on the waiting list for it. I am on the waiting list for at least 5 books that don't even come out until August, or September. Then, when it comes out, they e-mail me and I hotfoot it down there to pick it up and read the first few lines standing in line to check out!!!

I feel the same way too. I really like to read, but it takes me so long because I usually find myself reading each page twice - sometimes more to make sure I absorbed EVERY single word. I'm pretty sure this not necessary for pleasure reading.....I'm just afraid I'll miss something if I don't!

I am a big fan of the library because I read so fast. They have a section there called "Fast Read". It has all the new releases but you have to read them in four days or else you are fined $2/day. I have no problem getting them done in that time. I just finished a Mary Higgins Clark and am now reading David Baldacci. It would cost me a fortune to get my books from a bookstore.
