SO i have come to the realization from my last thread that I am going to be checking in at least one bag I have narrowed fitting three peoples clothes into one suitcase. We are taking less because i can do wash at the resort. so we are flying delta and I have a small duffel bag and a tote bag for myself , my daughter wants her own backpack and my oldest daughter is carrying her own small carry on bag is that to much? basically these are bags for stuff when return and 1 days outfits

You'll need to check the Delta website, but most airlines allow one carry-on bag (dimensions & weight vary by carrier) that fits into the overhead compartment and one personal item plus purse that must fit under the seat in front of you per ticketed passenger. I remember one airline is charging for carry-ons now, but I can't remember which one it is!

Be sure you and/or your DD can lift and maneuver the bag(s) to be placed into the overhead compartment by yourselves. The Flight Attendants no longer do that--although they do sometimes help a bit. :)

Edited to add:

If the website doesn't specify a size for the "personal item," I probably would keep it under 16"L x 10"W x 8"H. It needs to be flexible--it might have to be squashed a bit to fit under an aisle seat or just to maneuver it under a window seat. There isn't a lot of room to maneuver! :)

No I don't think it's too much. We are doing the same for our group of 3 - checking in 1 bag for all our goop (lotions, shampoos, bottle openers) that can't be carried on or are more than the allowed 3 ozs. Each of us plan to carry on 1 bag + one small personal item (like a purse)

Recheck your airlines baggage policy to make sure you don't exceed the dimensions or the weight for both checked & carry on & you should be fine :thumbsup2

I actually tape measured all my luggage & I will weigh it before we leave so there are no surprises at the airport. I try to be at least 5 lbs under to play it safe.

Have a great trip!

You checked bag has to be under 50lbs so be careful as you try to pack everyone's things in it. If it is over you pay more.

The carry ons can be fairly liberal, a childs back pack is no problem. A stuffed to the brim adult sized backpack can be carried on and put in the overhead.

Also in addition to the carry on and personal item, you can carry on lunch. Delta charges for meals and snacks only the penuts and soda are free.

Eh, not exactly. Each passenger can bring one carry-on bag - see your airline's website for dimensions, and yes, wheels and handles DO count - that goes in the overhead comparment, and one personal item such as a purse, backpack, laptop case...
