Another alcohol question

You're required to carry it on with you. It cannot be in checked luggage.

You can bring aboard as much as you can carry, but it has to fit through the security scanners - so don't bring anything too large.

And don't forget you have to keep it with you till your room is ready, so a rolling carryon bag is probably best.:thumbsup2

If I have a 11am check in set, how long does it take before you can drop things off in your room?

Policies change, and it's been quite a few years since he worked on the ship, and from what I understand, he worked in some sort of maintenance position....so it might be best to double check his info. I'm not sure how many of the policies that actually affect the passengers he would have been involved in, or had knowledge of.

:thumbsup2

Wow!

insureman, it's a roll of duct tape but even if it were electrical tape, they both solve a myriad of problems in our world and are equally amazing!

Duct tape! Duct Tape! Thats Gaff tape and Pro-Gaff at that! ;)

I have a couple thousand rolls in the warehouse and its no where near as cheap as Duct Tape :rotfl:

Sorry, LD Rant over :worship:

I must admit this entire thread cracks me up. For the record, I have rigged my Mickey Ears to hold a can of beer on each side. I put one from the ship on the left and one from my cabin on the right. I have two swirly Mickey straws extending into my parched mouth. I may have even used duct tape during construction...

Thank goodness we're all entitled to our own opinions. EXACTLY what a Discussion Board is all about.

Perfectly acceptable to take the beer to the dining room, or anywhere....especially since you are buying it from Disney.

Some people don't like to pour their beer into a glass of any kind...whether it's glass or plastic. There are NO rules or recommendations from DCL about carrying a can of beer around...people even carry it by the bucket full! :thumbsup2

On the cruise (Dream) a couple weeks ago DW came back to the cabin with a bucket of can beers (6). 2 for 1 purchase from one of the bars. She's always looking for bargains. :)

Canned beer seemed to be everywhere. Never saw a bottle or anyone walking on deck with a glass. I can't imagine glass containers would be allowed anywhere on deck. One drop and break.... It would be impossible to get every fragment found and cleaned up. All those tiny feet... No way would Disney take the chance.

I scanned the 5 pages of posts and didn't notice anyone suggesting they could simply go to a lounge and ask for an empty glass. Or ask room service for an empty glass. :drinking1 cheers

I would LOVE to see that!!:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Can I jump in with some questions? I know this is a popular thread and will get plenty of looks (with great answers then) :) We will be cruising on the Wonder in just a few weeks (7 day Mexican Riviera).

If you carry on your alcohol, and consume it in your room, are there cups in the rooms to use or do you have to call for them?

Will they bring glass cups to the room, making it impossible to walk around in public with?

Also, any idea how big the cups are that you might be able to use. For instance, if you wanted to run to the soda machine and grab some pop before making a drink, are the cups available very big or tiny?

Does anyone know the types of pop available on the Wonder?

I was thinking of bringing my own cups, but now I think that may be a bad idea?? I'm not a big drinker, but thought I could make myself a drink here and there. I plan to bring these little packets of sugar free mixers I saw that won't take up much space and will help with the calories.

DH plans to get the beer mug package so he should be good with that. Can anyone tell me if that is a good deal? We are going with friends and I just thought he and his friend would just get that package. But now that I realize they can carry on a case of beer, I'm not so sure ...

Thank you so much for the wealth of info you all provide :)

We have preordered a case of beer to be waiting in our room
I know you can bring your own wine to dinner, will hubby be able to bring his beer to dinner

How did you pre-order a case of beer? I only see 6 packs listed on the in room shopping link. Dh would love for me to get the case if I can. TIA

Also, I asked in another thread if the beer is still Low Alcohol. No one seemed to know, but DH clearly remembers that it was in 2006. Does anyone have anything to add to that? If so, Dh wants to carry on the beer (which is creating a transportation complication.) If it is regular % alcohol beer, he will be fine with what is onboard.

I've never asked for glasses at any of the bars, but I have called room service and had them deliver wine & champagne glasses. I don't see why they couldn't bring some kind of glass suitable for beer.
But I do know that a lot of people bring their own mugs.....for beer, and to fill at the drink station.

There are standard "hotel" highballs in the room. I tried but didn't have a very accommodating steward when I asked for some wine glasses in the room. I ended up getting some at the closest bar. Next time, I think we'll enjoy the ship wine in the restaurants--it really wasn't that over priced and they'll save a bottle from one night to the next. I will however bring more alcohol to mix drinks --for that I'd recommend either a travel coffee mug (for a little insulation) or my favorite option on another cruise line was the disposable coffee cups (they sell them in grocery stores and dollar stores) with lids. No one knows what's in them, they do have a little insulation, are a decent size and you can throw them away!

The cups at the drink station are pretty small...like one foam coffee cup size.
Your stateroom will have small drinking glasses, like what you'd find in a hotel bathroom. Room service can provide wine glasses, but I'm not sure about larger drinking glasses. If I was going to mix my own, I think I'd bring a nice-size plastic cup.

The pop onboard is all Coke products. You can order ginger ale, but it isn't at the fountain.

Bringing your own beer would be cheaper, but we've found that sometimes it isn't worth the savings to have to haul it all over before the cruise, at the port, and on the ship until the rooms are ready...around 1:30 pm.

I do not think that the beer that they serve on the ship is Oklahoma cool aid/ near beer( low alcohol) :rotfl2::rotfl2: All the beer that I have consumed on Disney cruises was the "regular" %

From DCL's website...they also have some imported beer like Guiness, Corona and Heineken.

Opinions on beer mug Vs purchasing Buckets O Beer?

Does anyone have an opinion this this? Which did you prefer? If you do the beer mug, can you have it refilled from the dining rooms or would you need to leave and go to a bar?

If you carry on your alcohol, and consume it in your room, are there cups in the rooms to use or do you have to call for them?

You have to call for them. The only glasses available in the room are standard drinking glasses.

Will they bring glass cups to the room, making it impossible to walk around in public with?

I got a plastic mug once. You might have to state when you call that is what you want. Or ask at any of the bars on the open decks for a cup.
You can walk around with a glass container ANYWHERE but on the open decks (pool deck, upper observation deck). Or you can bring your own plastic cups or plastic wine glasses. But you will have to keep track of them, and wash them.

Also, any idea how big the cups are that you might be able to use. For instance, if you wanted to run to the soda machine and grab some pop before making a drink, are the cups available very big or tiny?

They are all the same size, and are rather small if you are intending on carrying enough mixer for a group to mix drinks, because they are single serving size. You can bring your own larger mug or cup but they ask that you fill it using the paper cups provided (for sanitary reasons you are not supposed to fill your own container directly from the taps).

Does anyone know the types of pop available on the Wonder?

DCL uses Coca-Cola products exclusively. I know root beer and ginger ale are not available in the fountains. To get those, you would need to order it at a bar and pay for it.
