Not in a can. Nor should he walk around the ship with a can.
If it were in a beer glass from the bar's or a DCL Beer Mug, then no one would know.

Since you've order the case of beer from DCL then you are perfectly fine to take it with you wherever you go on the ship.

Taking a can of beer is distasteful IMO.
In a glass would be better.

OP never said her hubby would be carrying around a can of beer. No clue where you picked up that bit of info.

Remember, glass is not allowed by the pools.

IMO glass would be a very bad idea. I dont believe they serve glass bottles on the boat anyway. They were all in those new aluminum 12 or 16 oz cans. And yes, it is perfectly acceptable to walk around with a can of beer.:thumbsup2

I walk around with glass bottles. Never had a problem or given a dirty look. I have been asked where I got (insert beer name here). And in some situations I'm willing to share my stash.

Your opinion, and mine is different. Acceptable, yes it is tolerated. Desirable, not IMO. A bit like the dining room request's regarding attire.

Ex Techie:

I am not sure why you are taking this so personally.

The original OP asked a question and you answered it incorrectly. You gave a direct answer that was only your opinion. You CAN walk around with a can of beer. It is not only acceptable it is encouraged by DCL because they sell them for 8 bucks a pop.

I am not sure why you find this so distasteful but the majority of the people on a Disney cruise would not find walking around with beer to be in poor taste at all.

OP's question was could he take it to the dining room. Any alcoholic beverage purchased on the ship can be taken into the dining room without incurring an additional charge.:goodvibes

I never thought beer etiquette could become as hot a topic as appropriate attire can!:rotfl:

Thank goodness we're all entitled to our own opinions. EXACTLY what a Discussion Board is all about.

Perfectly acceptable to take the beer to the dining room, or anywhere....especially since you are buying it from Disney.

Some people don't like to pour their beer into a glass of any kind...whether it's glass or plastic. There are NO rules or recommendations from DCL about carrying a can of beer around...people even carry it by the bucket full! :thumbsup2

We walk around with a can beer all the time and never had an issue, concern or thought it to be in poor taste at all:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Yes, bring it to dinner. It does NOT matter whether or not the beer was purchased from DCL. You are permitted to bring alcoholic beverages on board.

It is not uncommon for guests to bring *regional* (Caribbean / Alaskan / Mexican) beer onboard the ship (from ports). In fact, it was quite interesting on the Inaugural Alaska Cruise ... looking to see what others had scrounged up on land. Alaska is a great beer port!

This is not restricted to beer ... but goes for most beverages (including Pepsi). You'd be surprised at how many people approach us, asking where THEY can get a Pepsi! In one instance, a pregnant woman seemed VERY INTERESTED in our Pepsi ... but was a bit disappointed to hear we did not acquire the Pepsi onboard (she was obviously a DCL rookie). Not to fret, we became friends, and I offered *Mom* a Pepsi ... and eventually gave her our room #, in case she had cravings during the rest of the cruise!

I agree about the beer cans, just buy a DCL beer mug and bring it home as a great souvenir.

Hey extechie is that electrical tape or duct tape as your photo, as a former ship communications tech (US Navy) either one would appropriate.:thumbsup2

Disney's policy is very clear:
"Alcohol brought on board may not be consumed in any lounge or public area. Guests who arrive in the dining room with a bottle of champagne or wine that has been brought on board will be charged a corking fee of $20.00 per bottle."

So "no one would know" doesn't seem the right approach. Disney is the only line I've sailed on that allows guests to bring their own alcohol aboard for consumption in their room; let's not give them second thoughts by not heeding their reasonable restriction.

Had to laugh at this...I take Pepsi onboard. I actually had a waitress come up to me in the Promenade Lounge and ask me where I got my Pepsi, because another passenger wanted one. At first, I thought I was in trouble!! :goodvibes:goodvibes
