Another airport security question....

Please correct me if my understanding is wrong: I can buy a bottle of water at SAN airport after security, but before we board the plane. We layover in Phoenix (lets say), and we have an hour and a half layover. Do I have to toss my water bottle before boarding to MCO or upon getting off in Phoenix, then buy another one before boarding to go to MCO?

This is confusing I know. My DS 2.5 will be with us. Is it okay if I bring him his own empty sippy cup (or cup with a lid), then fill it once we get through security??

Does chapstick count as a liquid? Thanks guys!

As long as you never leave the secure gate area, you'll be fine with the water.

I believe traditional lipstick is not a liquid or gel.

Yes you can buy stuff after you pass thru security, you just can't bring stuff thru. The chapstick should be fine, as with the empty cup. most airlines give moms a little break with stuff like that.

The only time you'd have a problem with taking a bottle of water off of the plane is if you had to leave the secure area and go back through security. As long as you are not changing from one airline to another, this is not generally anything that you have to do when changing planes.

There are plenty of places to buy water (or other beverages) once you're past security at SAN, regardless of which airline you're flying. You need not dump out liquids when you connect or layover at other airports as long as you remain in the secure side of the checkpoint near the gates.

Chapstick is not a liquid or a gel.

Empty containers and sippy cups are fine.
