I have a call in to our guide, Byron about adding on, but I imagine he is busy with the price increase coming up. I thought I could get some help from all of you. I'm still a little confused about adding on points and the banking rules. As I posted before, when I was on the cruise, I was told by the guides that if I added on points, I would not be able to bank them because I have already banked all my points this year. (My use year is Oct) Is this correct? Is there anyway to get around it? We won't be able to use the points this year. Are these options possible?.....
-Buy 150 points, getting a new use year, and banking all of year 2000's points? -OR-
-Buying points in another person's name (like our parents) and being able to bank them

I guess it doesn't seem fair to not be able to bank the points we would just buy. Aren't they separate contracts? Is this rule written anywhere in our contract? I couldn't find it. We would hate to lose those points and we are thinking that if we can't bank them, we might as well wait since the price increase wouldn't cost us that much more ($150 for 50 pts). Then if VWL does sell out, we would buy a larger amount of points next March at a different resort. Does anyone know if there is another price increase planned? I'd appreciate any advice anyone can give us. Thanks a lot!

The add-on will have the same contract number as your original purchase- just the suffix will differ (.001, .002, etc.) These points will count in your total points- so if you have already banked more than 50% of your new total, you won't be allowed to bank any more at this time.

Purchasing a new contract (150 or more points- in your name or anyone else's) would solve that problem- but you would still need help from your guide to be able to bank more than 50% of those points- since you are already past that deadline. I'd put some pressure on my guide to help with this- make it clear that you're ready to buy more points- but need help clearing this final hurdle to make it happen. With a little motivation (making a sale can e a great motivator to a sales person!), you may find your guide able to "find" a little Disney magic.

Good Luck! Please report back any progress!
:)

Thanks for the clarification, Doc. I do have another question though. If we bought 150 points, wouldn't our use year be whatever they are offering right now which probably isn't Oct. Then we would probably be OK with the banking deadlines. Now I just need Byron to call me back and hope he can help us out!

Yep! I forgot about that!

The new use year will be whatever they are currently selling (sometimes you can even select one), so that would solve your banking dilemma.

I hope Byron calls you back before you get out of the mood! ;)

Enjoy!

We just bought another 200 points which we thought would be a seperate membership but it was not. It was an add on. They gave us our same use year and contract numbers.

Well, Byron called me and this is what I found out. We can not bank any add-on points due to already banking all our points already. He did check and we would be able to use the one time banking option. If we would buy 150 points, we could do it either as an add-on which we still wouldn't be able to bank or we could do a separate contract and have a December use year then we'd be able to bank it all. What we are considering now is if we should buy 100 points and use the one-time banking option. 50 points doesn't seem to be worth using it for. Decisions, decisions!
