Another ? About Airtran

When can you pick your seats for AirTran??? I purchased the tickets months ago, and was under the impression that you can not pick them till you print your boarding pass. (24 hrs - 90 mins before your flight) My sis just called and said that someone she works with said you can pick your seats anytime. HELP!!!! (She said if we wait we will not be sitting together!!!!!) Please, someone who has flown coach with AirTran.....when did you pick your seats????????

I have never flown AirTran, but have checked their rates. Depending on the rate you book allows you to pre-assign seats. Usually the 2 cheaper rates are cattle call...but the next level up is pre-assigned. I would lookup you flights and rates or just call and confirm what rate you are booked at.

They are not cattle call like SW, the cheaper fares are assigned at check in. This can be done online up to 24 hrs in advance or at the airport.

To check if you can choose your seats, go to "find itinerary" from the homepage at airtran.com. Then type in your confirmation number, first name, last name, and departure airport. Your info will come up and on the top right there "may" be a select or change seats tab. If it is there and seats are available, go ahead and pick them. If it appears the plane is full, you will have to wait until check in. Understand that once a % of seats are picked, the rest of the seat map gets shut down until check in......

Also, if your sister works at a company that has a contract with AirTran you can pick in advance. For example, if I book via my company TA site then I can pick the seats at that time. If book on AirTran I get the standard 24 hours.

Thanks so much....I went to the "find itinerary" & it says on the right that I will be able to pick my seats at check in.
