ANOTHER 21 days in WDW+DXDDP=hundreds of food pics (COMPLETED 3/2!)

Yummy!! LTT looks delicious! I'm curious to try it, although probably for dinner

Great start! Looking forward to reading more, especially the Yachtsman's Steakhouse as I am hoping to eat here on my birthday in February :)

We haven't been to LTT in a long time (always cancelled at the very last minute) and I guess the menu has changed, because I haven't seen that vegetarian dish before and it looks yum and I would love to have that apple pie right now ;)

We hope to upgrade part of our FD vacation next summer to Deluxe Dining, so your reviews are extra helpful!!! Thank you!!!!

Thanks. I think that dish came on last September, as a replacement to the noodle dish. I remember our waitress last year telling us it was really good, but wouldn't be on the menu until the week after we dined there. It was really good, and I was impressed that they hadn't just gone for a pasta dish, which so many restaurants put on the menu as the veggie option.

I had the same dinner you had when there. The cheese sticks, cod and ooey, gooey toffee cake. I must have hit it on a really good day. The cod was almost the best dish of the vacation.

Very good reviews so far, BTW! They're bringing back great memories!!

Thank you. I may be just hit a bad day and it's normally a good dish??

Jumping in to say hello! Can't wait to read the rest!

Thanks for joining in.

Thanks. We've never done dinner there as it doesn't look great for a vegetarian, but have always enjoyed lunch.

Great start! Looking forward to reading more, especially the Yachtsman's Steakhouse as I am hoping to eat here on my birthday in February :)

Thank you. I'll get Yachtsman's written tonight.

We had a 7pm reservation at Yachtsman Steakhouse and arrived a couple of minutes early. We were told it would only be a couple of minutes before we were seated, but it was actually about 15.

The place was really busy, but our waitress greeted us quickly and offered drinks immediately. Service here was actually really good, she was friendly, prompt and was happy to recommend her favourite dishes.

To drink I had a glass of Sangria which was actually pretty good, fruity but not too weak, so it still have plenty of red wine flavour.
YMS_sangria.jpg

For appetiser I had Seared Maine Diver Scallops with avocado sauce. The scallops were perfectly cooked and had a really nice flavour too them. They weren't at all gritty, but they could have done with a bit more avocado sauce as it was quite a dry dish.
YMS_scallop.jpg

DH had the cheese plate. He wasn't provided with a description or any explanation of the cheese which is a bit disappointing, but it was a nice cheese plate. The cheese was accompanied by honey, dried fruit, and toasted bread, and although I'm not sure what it was exactly the blue cheese was definitely his favourite.

I ordered the Filet Mignon served with mashed potatoes and red wine sauce. I'm really not a big red meat eater but I enjoyed this dish a lot. I asked for the filet cooked medium and it was perfectly cooked. The potatoes were delicious, very creamy and the sauce was good but there was very little of it. I'm certainly no steak expert but this seemed like a pretty good steak to me. Sorry I forgot to take a picture before I'd already cut into it.

DH had the fried green tomatoes, which was a different dish to what I'd seen on the online menus. DH really doesn't like fried tomato's so he really should have asked them if it was possible to prepare something else but he ordered it anyway. The tomatoes had been deep fried in a parmesan cheese and breadcrumb mixture which DH really liked (he basically ate the breading and just left the tomatoes). It was served with salad and more parmesan which he said was fine. Our server noticed he hadn't eaten the tomatoes and asked if everything was ok, she did tell him to just ask for something else next time and the chef would have no problem preparing it.

For dessert I had the Banana Napolean which was wonderful. The napolean was banana custard, sandwiched between thick pastry slices, which was a nice mix of crunchy and smooth textures. There were caramalised banana's which were very nice, and a cheesecake/banana mousse type thing (on the left) as well. It was really nice but a very big portion.
YMS_banana.jpg

DH had the trio of Valhrona Chocolate, the trio were salted caramel, peanut butter and espresso. The caramel one is on the left, I think espresso in the middle, and peanut on the right. All 3 were nice but the espresso one was his favourite, I liked the caramel which was a soft mousse with a crunchy caramel biscuit in the centre.

Overall we had a very nice meal here with good food and service, it had quite a loud atmosphere, but mostly adults dining. Coming up next - Yak n Yeti.

The food looks great, especially the desserts :goodvibes I don't think we're going to try it on our next trip, but it may have to be a consideration for the future.

Great review and photos of Yachtsmans. I am very drawn to the diver scallops, but I'm not sure about the avocado pairing - did the flavours go?

I like the angle you've taken your sangria from, as it's made the glass look huuuuuge|!!

thanks. It was a really nice meal so hope you get to give it a try at some point.

I thought the flavours paired well and I'm not a huge fan of avocado anyway, but still very much enjoyed the dish.

I never noticed that about the sangria but you're right it does look pretty big in that picture!

Breakfast today was from Main St Bakery, which we'd bought using snack credits the previous day.

I had half an apple turnover as it was huge. It was really good though, sweet pastry topped with crunchy sugar, and plenty of apple filling, with a nice hint of cinnamon.
MSBakery_appturn.jpg

DH chose a cinnamon roll, and again he only ate half as this was enormous. He said it was very good, nice and soft but tasted a bit like maple syrup, rather than having a strong cinnamon flavour.

For lunch we had an 11:30 reservation at Yak & Yeti. We arrived at 11:20 and it took a while to check in as there was a few people queuing. We were sat pretty much immediately and it was pretty empty, although it filled up by 12.

Our waitress, was training a new waiter so we had two servers. This meant we got quite good service as he brought the drinks, some of the food out, and kept checking whether we needed anything else. Although she was friendly I did think she pushed the alcohol a bit too much and the meal felt very rushed.

To drink I got the Everest Avalanche, this was a frozen sweet cocktail with banana, strawberry and mango flavours. It had bacardi in it but you couldn't really taste any alcohol.
YY_drink.jpg

For an appetiser we shared the Wok Fried Green Beans. These were really good again, crispy with a hint of spice, soft beans and a tasty sweet chilli dipping sauce. We didn't get to finish them before our entrees arrived which was really annoying as I hate when that happens.
YY_beans.jpg

My entree was Baby Back Ribs with hoisin barbeque sauce, chicken fried rice and sweet chilli slaw. The ribs were excellent, really tender moist meat, coated in sesame seeds to add a little crunch and a tasty bbq sauce. There were tons of them though, I think I managed about half.
The fried rice was fine if a little bland, and the slaw good but a bit too spicy for me. Overall though a very nice dish.

When DH explained he was vegetarian the chef came out to speak to him. He offered to make the lo mein with just vegetables and tofu, which was fine with DH. He said this was a nice dish, plenty of crunchy vegetables, nicely cooked tofu and soft noodles. It was a big portion but he found it to be quite bland, adding soy sauce helped though.
YY_noodles.jpg

For dessert we shared the Chocolate Brownie Sundae. Again this was enormous and there was no way we were going to be able to finish it after all the food we'd already eaten! It was basically vanilla icecream, hot fudge sauce and plenty of big brownie pieces, a very nice dessert.
YY_sundae.jpg

Overall we thought the food was really good, but felt the meal was too rushed (we had 3 courses within 50 minutes (including a wait for DH to speak with the chef) and that's just a bit too quick for me.)

Up next, dinner at Coral Reef.

Oh that meal looks so delicious! Especially that dessert! I could go for a huge brownie sundae right now!

I have a question...was the bbq sauce on the ribs more of an asian flavored bbq sauce that tasted more like the stuff on orange chicken (thats the only example I can think of, sorry!) or was it more of a traditional bbq sauce?

I think you may have finally swayed me to try Y&Y!

Yum! I really want to try Yak and Yeti-- the promise of good Asian food may be the only way I can convince DBF to go to AK! (He has zero desire to go to that park!)

It tasted like normal bbq sauce to me, but I'm not that familiar with BBQ sauce in the US. The only thing I'd really have to compare it to was a bbq pulled pork sandwich from Hard Rock Cafe, and they tasted similar to me.

The food looks nice at Yak & Yeti :)

It was a really nice meal.

LOVE your husbands Northwestern shirt! I have the same one!!! :thumbsup2

Sarah

Thanks. He's really into Deadliest Catch and had to buy that shirt when he saw it last year!

Aw I can't believe he doesn't want to go to AK, it's probably my favourite park! Hope you manage to convince him.

We had an 8:05 dinner reservation here, so after spending some time in The Seas we arrived bang on time. I'd heard horror stories of people waiting ages past their ADR time, so wasn't really expecting to be seated quickly.

There was a fair few people waiting but we were seated after about 5 minutes which was a pleasant surprise. We were taken to a table on the top level which still offered a good view of the tank. Previously we'd only been seated right next to the tank but we could still see fine from our seat.

Our waitress was friendly but seemed really busy. She greeted us and got drinks really quickly, but we seemed to wait a while for each course, especcially the entree. Looking around all the tables near us were waiting for ages for their food as well, so there was may be some sort of back up in the kitchen.

I had a glass of Savignon Blanc with my meal, and a large bottle of evian counted as a drink on the DDP so we shared one of them.

For an appetiser I chose the lobster bisque. This was a very creamy soup, with some chunks of lobster in it. There was no sherry flavour but still a nice soup.
CR_bisque.jpg

DH had the Butternut Squash soup topped with jalapenos and cream. This was really good, very thick, good sweet flavour and the jalapeno cut through the sweetness and gave it a spicy kick. I definitley preferred this to my bisque, but both were good.
CR_squash.jpg

My entree was Catch of the Day (Grouper) on a mushroom, shallot and scallop risotto. We waited ages for the mains after finishing the apps, and I got the impression this dish had been sitting out a while as it was only warm, not hot. The fish was well cooked, the risotto very tasty with plenty of mushrooms and scallops in, a nice dish but should have been hotter.
CR_fish.jpg

The vegetarian option was Mushroom Lasagne. This was a bit strange as each lasagne was formed individually, then baked in the oven. What this did though was just make pasta on the top and sides really crispy and almost inedible, then the pasta underneath was undercooked. The filling had plenty of mushrooms, spinach, and cheese (marscapone, parmesan and ricotta) and was tasty but very rich and the tomato sauce was fine. Overall not a great dish.
CR_lasagne.jpg

For dessert I had the butterscotch creme brulee. This was a nice creme brulee, good creamy texture, thick burnt sugar topping but it didn't really have any butterscotch flavour to it. The almond biscotti it was served with was good with a strong almond flavour.
CR_creme.jpg

DH had the Baileys and Jack Daniels Mousse. He said this was nice, a smooth, creamy texture, you could taste it had alcohol in it but you couldn't tell it was jack daniels exactly.
CR_mousse.jpg

Overall we had a nice meal here, aside from the mushroom lasagne the food was good, service was fine if a little slow and it's good value for 1 TS credit.

Coming next - Chefs de France

Today we went to Artist Palette for breakfast and split a CS credit. We had a few credits left over for CS meals like this, as I'm not a huge fan of 3 Table service meals in one day.

We got there about 7:45 and it was pretty empty. DH fancied an omlette, so we got the cheese omlette which is served with breakfast potatoes. This was fine, light omlette, plenty of cheese filling and the potatoes were cooked well. We got two drinks on the plan so as we both had mugs, opted for two bottles of water.
We also used a snack credit to get a cherry danish which was nice. Soft pastry, sweet icing and a tart cherry filling.
APal_omlette.jpg

We spent the morning playing mini golf then headed to Epcot for our 1pm reservation at Chefs de France.
We checked in at 12:45 and were seated immediately. The restaurant was very busy, and we were given a table for two by the window. There was a 4 top right next to us and I was grateful they didn't sit another party there, as the tables were so close it would have been uncomfortable. Not all the tables were like this, it was just where we were sat.

Our waitress was good, she was friendly, explained the menu and supplied water without being asked to, as well as our coke/diet coke.

Neither of us were too hungry so we shared an appetiser, the tomato and goats cheese flatbread. This was very good, an incredibly thin flatbread, topped with tomato puree, slices of goats cheese, drizzled with oil. The cheese tasted very processed, but it was still really tasty.
CDF_tart.jpg

My entree was the Quiche Lorraine. Again this was really good, a nice size quiche, buttery, crumbly pastry, filled with a warm eggy, cheesey filling and plenty of bacon pieces. It was accompanied by a salad, which was actually just lettuce leaves topped with balsamic dressing, and 2 cherry tomatoes. Although the salad was a bit weak, I'd get this again as the quiche was so good.
CDF_quiche.jpg

DH had the Macaroni Cheese. He said this was a nice dish, the pasta was well cooked but the cheese sauce was a little bland. The gruyere cheese topping was really strong and added a lot of flavour to the dish.
CDF_mac.jpg

For dessert we shared the Apple Crepe with caramel sauce. The crepe was filled with slices of apples (which may be could have been a bit softer), and the caramel sauce added sweetness . It was served with vanilla ice cream topped with crunchy white chocolate shavings (this was my favourite part of the dish!). Overall an nice dessert, but nothing special.
CDF_crepe.jpg

As we shared the appetiser and dessert our waitress offered to charge the cheapest entree, to get better value from the credit elsewhere. I thought this was nice of her to offer but we declined as I knew we'd be struggling to use up all the credits anyway.

We both enjoyed our lunch here and we would return.

Coming up next - Raglan Road.
