ANOTHER 21 days in WDW+DXDDP=hundreds of food pics (COMPLETED 3/2!)

THat flatbread at Chefs looks good--I'll have to try it in December. The lobster bisque is my favorite at Coral reef, too. Too bad about the lasagna--I wonder why the pasta was like that.

Great reviews so far. Wow, 21 days at WDW. I can't even imagine it!!

Thank you very much. We were very lucky to be able to stay that long.

It was really nice, hope you enjoy it too. I think it was just the design of the dish, when you bake pasta and it's not covered in sauce it tends to go like that, or at least it does when I do it!

Those pictures from Coral Reef look incredible. Can't wait to try it in December '10. Only 414 days to go. ;) We really enjoyed Chefs, too. The service was the best!

Thanks for your reviews, you took very nice pictures!:thumbsup2

I still dream about the soup at Coral Reef even though I've not eaten there for three years. It sounds like your meal started well but then didn't live up to its early promise there? My pet hate is food that should be hot being only warm, but if I usually can't be bothered to send it back and then have to wait for a new one!

I can't really understand that lasagne :confused3

Really enjoying your reviews; thank you.

Is grouper a real fishy tasting fish? I'm kinda getting into seafood but I'm scared of it! I did try the mahi-mahi when I was at CR and loved it!!

Your review makes me want to go get the quiche! It looks divine! MMMM!!

Yeah, for me it was a good meal but would have been a great meal if my entree had been served hot, and service wasn't so slow. For DH it would have been a good meal if the mushroom lasagne had been edible!

I am enjoying your reviews! Although they are making me hungry!:thumbsup2

Thank you. Believe me they're making me hungry writing them! I'm now reminiscing about all the fabulous food, while on a diet to lose all the weight I gained on holiday!

Great reviews! :thumbsup2 Can't wait to read more!

Thank you

Great reviews and pictures.:yay: Can't wait to read more.

Thanks very much.

I think Grouper is a mild tasting fish probably in the same league as Mahi Mahi, so if you enjoyed Mahi Mahi you'll probably like Grouper.

The quiche was fantastic, I'm still dreaming about it today!

We had an 8:30 reservation at Raglan Road and after spending some time at DisneyQuest we checked in at 8:20.

We only waited a few minutes to be seated, and were shown to a table impossibly close to it's neighbours. This had to be seen to be believed, I'm talking at most a 1.5 inch gap between 'our' table and the neighbouring tables, the only way to get in would have been to climb across the table.

I didn't complain I just laughed, and she asked if we wanted a different table. She took us to a table on the end, which had a much more reasonable gap between it and the neighbouring table, although was right next to the kitchen with it's swinging door. The other table sat unoccupied, until they put it together with the 4 top next to it to make a six top, that made the spacing much more manageable. I understand they need to pack them in, but you have to at least keep all the tables accessible to diners!

Our server greeted us quickly and offered drinks. I had a One for the Road which was vodka, midori, pineapple and orange juice. This was sweet and you could definitely taste the Midori as melon was the strongest flavour, but it was good.

Neither of us were particularly hungry and as they didn't have any vegetarian appetisers on the menu, we just went straight for the main course.
I had the Fish and Chips. This was a big portion and was very tasty. The fish was flaky and well cooked, coated in a very thin batter that probably should have been a bit crisper. The chips were well done, soft inside, crisp outside and not at all greasy, and the tartare sauce was creamy with a good tangy flavour. Overall a nice entree.

DH had the Goats town which he has tried on previous visits and really enjoyed. This time not so much! The salad was really nice with a sweet, berry dressing, but I'm not sure what was with the goats cheese as DH didn't like it at all. It had a strange flavour to it (part onion/part herby) and tasted more like boursin cheese than goats cheese. I had a taste and thought it was ok, but agreed it was a very strange tasting goats cheese.

After we'd finished our entrees, our waiter asked if we'd like dessert. When we said yes he then asked if we were on the dining plan. He brought a much smaller dessert menu than we'd had on previous visits, with only 5 choices and strangely no prices on any of the desserts. I got the impression that this the dessert menu they give customers on the dining plan, but I may be wrong and they could have just streamlined their dessert options.

I chose the Raspberry Pavlova which was a nice, reasonably light dessert. The meringue (which was much bigger than I was expecting) was thin and crisp on the outside, fluffy inside. The inside actually had a blue tinge to it which I assume was from the fruit but it was still a bit weird to be eating blue meringue. The meringue was sweet enough to complement the tart raspberries and coulis, and the cream also went well with the dish.

DH had his usual, Ger's Bread and Butter Pudding. This was just as huge, rich and filling as last time, and even though he'd hardly eaten any of his entree he still struggled to finish it. The creme anglaise and caramel sauce add just enough sweetness and moistness to the dessert, and this is still a fantastic dessert, and definitely the highlight of the meal.

So overall neither of us were too impressed with Raglan Road this time around. My entree and dessert were both fine but neither were anything special, DH hated his entree but loved his dessert. Service was fine, atmosphere was very loud and busy, overall just an ok meal. We would return but I think we'll just pop in for dessert next time.

Before going home we stopped at Goofys to use up a few snack credits. They were really busy so we avoided the make your own section and just chose from the premade snacks.

I got a chocolate covered strawberry which was gorgeous, really thick milk chocolate covering a large, ripe strawberry.

I also got marshmallows coated in chocolate and m&ms, DH got one coated in oreo crumbs. These were almost as good as the make your own treats, very sweet, we kept it in the fridge and just nibbled on them for the next few days.

I do love that bread pudding!! I need to go back soon for some...:goodvibes

Did you notice if the regular menu had changed, or did it seem to be just a different dessert menu?

Thanks for your reviews, I am really enjoying them!!:cheer2:

Mmmmmm yum yum yum yum!! It's like a form of self punishment as I keep looking at photos of lovely snacks from Goofy's when I'm on a diet

I have never eaten at Raglan Road though we have had a drink here. Your fish and chips look nice and the Bread & Butter Pudding to die for :lovestruc

I'm coming along for the ride :thumbsup2
Those Goofy's Candy Co treats still look as delish (and calorie-laden:lmao:) as ever popcorn::

Can't wait to read more :thumbsup2

What do you mean calorie-laden?

Don't you know all food in Disney is calorie and fat free? :rotfl:

The bread pudding is fantastic isn't it. The regular menu looked the same as last time, with just as many choices on.

I know, believe me writing about them is no easier, I would kill for one of those goofys treats right now, but it would probably use up a half my ww points allowance!

The bread and butter pudding is fantastic, definitely give it a go next time you're there.

Thanks for joining in. I love Goofys, it's just the best place to use up snack credits.

That chocolate strawberry is very cute!

It was cute, and delicious!

Breakfast this morning was snacks we'd picked up the day before from Boulangerie Patisserie. I chose a sacristain which was really just a chocolate twist. Flaky pastry, smooth chocolate filling and tons of chocolate chips made this a really nice pastry.

DH had a nid abeille or a cream horn. Again he enjoyed this although it's not really a breakfast type pastry. Plenty of cream filling, flaky pastry topped with crunchy sugar topping.

We had an 11:30 reservation at Le Cellier, and when we arrived there was only one other party waiting. We were seated within a couple of minutes and the restaurant was pretty empty, but was totally full by the time our meal finished.

Our waitress greated us straight away, and provided us with very good service the entire meal. She paced the meal nicely, ensured we never needed anything but she only appeared to have two tables to wait on so this might have something to do with it.

To drink I had a Magical Star cocktail. I really like this cocktail, it's sweet, coconuty but you can taste the rum in it. I'm also a sucker for anything that comes with a glow cube! DH had some type of dark canadian beer which he enjoyed.
LC_Drink.jpg

For an appetiser I went with the cheese soup. This was very nice, thick, creamy, plenty of bacon pieces, little bit of kick to it but I couldn't taste any beer. I enjoyed dipping the bread sticks in it, my favourite was the pretzel bread, but the sourdough was good too.
LC_Chssoup.jpg

DH had the tomato stack, which he described as being like brushchetta topping. Fresh ripe tomatoes, balsamic vingear, topped with crumbled blue cheese, he enjoyed this.
LC_tomato.jpg

For my entree I had to try the Mushroom Fillet Mignon as I'd heard so many good things about it on these boards. This truly was an excellent dish, the fillet was cooked medium and was warm, pink throughout, it was very tender and not at all chewy. The risotto was fantastic, strong mushroom flavour, plenty of garlic and the rice was perfectly cooked, not at all starchy. I pretty much cleared the plate, which I hardly ever do.
LC_steak.jpg

DH had Gnocchi in a pesto broth. The gnocchi was nicely cooked, the aubergine and tomatoes tasted fresh and were well cooked. The pesto broth was quite overpowering, as the chef had used much more pesto than you would normally find in a pasta dish. If you're not a real pesto lover I think you'd struggle with this dish, but luckily DH loves pesto so he enjoyed this.
LC_Gnocchi.jpg

For dessert I had the smores. This was a good dessert, chewy biscuit, gooey marshmallow and ice cream. I wasn't so keen on the marshmallow on the stick as it was a bit hard, but I ate everything else.
LC_smores.jpg

DH chose the maple creme brulee. This was a good creme brulee, nice smooth texture, thick crunchy topping and a strong maple flavour. It was served really cold and DH would have preferred it to be served slightly warm, but aside from that it was a nice dessert.

Overall we had a really nice meal here. The food was good, service was very good, and I can see why everyone wants to eat here!

For dinner tonight we were heading to Cinderella's Royal Table. I wasn't really sure about this one, as I'd read not so complimentary opinions of the food. However my friend had tried it and really enjoyed it, so I convinced DH to give it a try.

We arrived just before our 7:30 reservation and got our pictures taken with Cinderella. They called people in groups in to go upstairs, and we were pretty much the last people called in our 'group' at about 7:40. We were seated at a 4 top on the main floor, so we had plenty of room and a good view of the the fairy godmother and the mice.

Our waiter was friendly but in general service was slow (he did seem to have a lot of tables to wait on though). We waited ages to order drinks, then DH's appetiser was brought out well before mine turned up.

For an appetiser I chose the corn and crab soup. This was very nice, chunks of crab, plenty of sweetcorn and a hint of spice.
CRT_soup.jpg

DH had the vegetable spring roll which he really enjoyed. He said the pastry was crisp, packed with crunchy vegetables, and a tasty honey and soy dipping sauce.
CRT_spring.jpg

For my entree I chose the lavendar chicken. I thought this was a nice dish, the chicken was very moist and flavourful, sitting on top of creamy mashed potatoes. I couldn't taste any lavendar at all, but it was still good.
CRT_chicken.jpg

DH's vegetarian option was a pasta dish. The only word he could use to describe this was inedible, (and honestly this is a man that will eat pretty much anything!). The pasta itself was fine, but it was so salty all you could taste was salt. It was possibly due to the amount of parmesan in the dish (it looked like half a tub of parmesan had been dumped on top of the pasta). He started to eat the garlic bread it was served with, then realised that was covered in salt too. Our server did notice he wasn't eating it and offered to get him one of the other options, but as they didn't have anything else vegetarian he passed.
CRT_pasta.jpg

For dessert we both had the chocolate cream cheese buckle. This was a good chocolate cake, with a crunchy sugar topping and rich, cream cheese in the centre. It was served with thick cream on top, but I think ice cream would have gone with the cake better, as it would have balanced out the richness of the centre.
CRT_choc.jpg

Overall I enjoyed my meal here, DH not so much! I liked the little show with the fairy godmother, and I'm happy we got to see the inside of the castle, however I think eating here once is definitely enough for us.
