ANOTHER 21 days in WDW+DXDDP=hundreds of food pics (COMPLETED 3/2!)

Glad you made it home ok! So glad you've started your reviews...I love them:thumbsup2 We are staying at SSR next month, and I haven't ever stayed there. We want to make sure we're close to the bus line as DM is disabled. Any idea which building I should ask for? Sorry to be kind OT:laughing:

Great start to your reviews! Have to confess though, I googled courgette & aubergine, because I had no idea what it was! Apparently in the U.S., we call it zucchini & eggplant, but somehow courgette & aurbergine sounds much more refined. ;) Looking forward to more! :thumbsup2

Count me in as well! I LOVED your previous reviews and what I have read so far makes my mouth water!!!

Can't wait for more! :goodvibes

We stayed at the Paddock the same time as you. Probably saw you and didn't even know it. Great first review!

Welcome back! Looking forward to the reviews.

I had fish pie for an entree, which was just ok. The fish was tasty, mash a bit dry and it didn't look particularly appetising on the plate.

Fish...pie?

:lmao:

Blueberry, cherry, pumpkin, banana cream, sure. But fish?

Yay, the reviews started! That flatbread sounds yummy! Looking forward to the rest!
Thank you.

I'm sooooooo in!!!! popcorn::

We have been home for a couple weeks after a wonderful stay @ the THV! They were simply amazing! Love Saratoga Springs & can't wait to read more details about your trip!! :goodvibes

Thanks for joining in. The THV looked really cool. I liked SSR a lot more than I thought I would, I loved all the space of the 1 bedroom but people weren't lying when they said the resort was huge!

Hurray, your report is well worth the wait :cheer2:

thank you very much.

I so enjoyed your previous report and I'm very excited to see you get started on this one! You are my role model in dining reporting, and I'm attempting my own right now, but I'm sure I could never match the detail and content of yours.

I have to say I don't get the sizes of the desserts at WDW. The only ones I saw that might be considered appropriately sized for a single person were some of the packaged CS desserts. The cupcake my friend got at Starring Rolls was about twice the size of yours, easily enough for 3 or 4 to share. Craziness!
We got two of those cupcakes at starring rolls too, they are absolutely huge and even after nibbling on them for a couple of days we didn't come close to finishing them!

So happy you've started!!! :yay:

Thank you. I'm hoping to get the next review up tomorrow as my Internet connection isn't working at the moment. I'm having to post using my iPhone and given the speed I'm able to reply to comments using it, it would probably take me all day to write a review using it!

I'm very excited to see what you have to say about Kouzzina and Wolfgang Puck Cafe, as I will be trying them both for the first time in a few weeks!

to give you a brief idea in case I don't get those reviews done before you leave. We both really liked wolfgangs, both food and service were good. Kouzzina, dh really liked it, probably more than he enjoyed spoodles. I wasn't so sure food was ok, but I thought spoodles was a lot better.

Looking forward to more of the review! 21 days! Wow :yay: I always look forward to the veggie reviews as DH and I are both vegetarians and I'm always looking for tips!

thank you. Hope you enjoy the reviews, I know I always read veggie reviews to see which places might be good for DH.

hi and welcome back!

looking forward to hearing all about it!:)

thank you. I'll get the next installment up as soon as my Internet starts working again.

Can't wait to read all of your reviews!!!
Thank you very much.

Count me among those who are excited that your reviews have begun!

I love reading your reviews, especially since I also have a mixed carnivore/vegetarian party :)

Thank you very much and sorry for the delay in responding (the Iphone seems to struggle with multi-quote but now I'm back at work I can post from here!). There's four bus stops at SSR so it depends what section you want to stay in, if you need to be close to the foodcourt I'd definitely recommed Springs as we were about a 8 minute walk away from it in the Paddock. If your DM is in a wheelchair then Grandstand might be a good choice, as it's quite close to the foodcourt/pool and is the first bus pick up and drop off, which could be handy for a wheelchair user. I'm not sure on specific building numbers as I can't find the SSR map at the moment, but I know the guys on the DVC board have tons of info on SSR, and should be able to provide more help.

Thank you. :lmao:I forget we sometimes have different names for vegetables, I know when I first heard the term eggplant I had no idea what it was, I assumed it at least had something to do with eggs and was surprised when I realised it was an aubergine!

Count me in as well! I LOVED your previous reviews and what I have read so far makes my mouth water!!!

Thank you very much. I'm hoping to have the internet working again tonight so hopefully I'll get the next installment posted then.

Thank you very much. Did you like SSR?

Welcome back! Looking forward to the reviews.

Thanks. I know it was like no fish pie I've ever seen before! It honestly tasted alright but looked really weird!

Thank you.

Can't wait for all those pictures. I amso excited. :yay::yay::yay:

Thanks, I'll get the next one done asap.

Thank you very much. Hope they are helpful to you.

Thanks! I'm very excited to try Kouzzina. I LOVED Spoodles and was very sad to see it go. I'm hoping Kouzzina will be a good replacement.

My internet connection is fixed so I can finally write the next installment!

Our first day was spent in the Magic Kingdom. We had an 11:30am reservation at LTT and arrived about 11:20. There was a huge queue to check in and they were turning away all walk ups (I was surprised at this as I didn't think it was that popular a restaurant at lunchtime, but I guess it's the free dining effect).

We were the very first party seated, and given a 2 top in one of the back rooms. By the time we left every table was filled, so I guess they were right to be turning away walk ups.

Our waitress was good here, she was friendly and ensured our drinks were refilled promptly. Service was a little bit rushed, but otherwise good.

For an appetiser we shared the Tavern Fried Cheese. This was good but I assume they have all the apps sitting around waiting as it was delivered about 2 minutes after we ordered. The cheese was hot, I liked the tangy tomato dipping sauce and there was plenty to share.

For an entree I chose Catch of the day, which today was cod. It was a nice piece of cod, well cooked but not particularly flavourful. Cod's quite a plain fish anyway, and it appeared they'd just sprinkled some black pepper on and seared it. It was served with potato wedges which were really tasty, and supposedly a brown butter sauce, but the sauce didn't really have any flavour to it. There was tons of vegetables underneath the fish, but it was only onion (which was fine) and celery which is the one vegetable I can't stand.
Overall I wasn't really impressed with this dish, it was pretty bland but the potatoes were good.

DH had the Vegetable Pot Pie served with a Basil Biscuit. In contrast to my dish this was packed with flavour and was actually one of the best vegetarian dishes DH found the whole trip. It was basically a bean and vegetable (carrots, courgette, green beans) stew in tomato sauce, topped with a huge biscuit which had a nice strong basil flavour to it. This was a big portion but as he really enjoyed it he just about managed to finish it.

For dessert I had the Ooey Gooey Toffee cake, I loved this last year and it was nearly as good this year. It was a very dense, rich sweet cake, topped with chunks of caramel, mickey head sprinkles and vanilla ice cream. My only complaint is it wasn't served very hot, but it was still delicious.

DH had the Caramel Apple. This was a really good apple pie, thick buttery pastry, inside soft (but not mushy), sweet, apple slices and a very good cinnamon flavour ice cream. DH really liked this, but I thought my toffee cake was way better.

Overall we had a nice lunch, with my entree being the weakest dish, and LTT is still a must do for us.

Coming up next, Yachtsman Steakhouse.

We haven't been to LTT in a long time (always cancelled at the very last minute) and I guess the menu has changed, because I haven't seen that vegetarian dish before and it looks yum and I would love to have that apple pie right now ;)

We hope to upgrade part of our FD vacation next summer to Deluxe Dining, so your reviews are extra helpful!!! Thank you!!!!

I had the same dinner you had when there. The cheese sticks, cod and ooey, gooey toffee cake. I must have hit it on a really good day. The cod was almost the best dish of the vacation.

Very good reviews so far, BTW! They're bringing back great memories!!
