Today was my 180 + 10 to book dining for my mid December free dining trip. We have 6 people traveling in my party and 2 may as well be first timers for all they remember.
The problem was the 2 newcomers. They could only come for several days and they were at the start of the trip. The only restaurant requested was Ohana. So much for going as far forward into the stay as possible to book those hard to get places.
I had some glitches with the website when I first logged in, it wasn't letting me register for +10. I had to log in and out several times and that somehow fixed it. Go figure.
No Ohana dinner reservations for our first 5 days. Great, there goes that. Oh well, this isn't the first trip I've stalked Ohana and it most likely won't be the last. I'll find one.
A bigger surprise was that I couldn't find Biergarten for dinner on either of the 2 days I wanted it. When did this ADR become so popular? I substituted La Hacienda for now and will keep hunting.
My other problem was BOG early park entry breakfast. It was all booked up for the first several days of the trip which is when I need it (before the 2 party members leave). Put another one on the hunting checklist.
The next big issue I had was Hoop Dee Doo. We are on the dining plan for this trip and I couldn't figure out how to book online using dining credits, the system wanted to charge my card. I was on the phone with a Disney Dining agent who couldn't do it because her system was down. She urged me to go through with booking and said it shouldn't charge my card so long as my free dining was set up within MDE. I went through with booking and as of half a day later I have not been charged, I believe my card was just used to provide a card for the cancellation fee.
I had a little trouble getting Garden Grill but I managed to get a passable time/day.
I had no problems getting BOG dinner farther out in our trip.
