Just received a postcard in the mail today for Disneyland Annual Passholders. The postcard says in part says. "there is a special party for those of you coming up on your Passholder Anniversary." It goes on to say Advance registration is required, and the pass must be valid through 9/2/14. The event is going to be held on September 2, 2014 at DCA. Registration does not open until next week.

I don't know if I missed this on any of the threads, but does anyone know anything about it? Sounds very interesting.:woohoo:

Would you be able to sign up my daughter and myself on the registration? You can have you and up to 5 guests attend this after hours event. If you can sign us up, let me know and I'll send you our full names and passport # in a PM.
Thanks!

Just checked the Disney blog site. It says the passes must be expiring between October 1 and December 4. Not sure if I am going to be able to go yet since I am coming from the east coast. This would be a last minute trip for us. If it is allowed I would be glad to register you. I will let you know.popcorn::

If this is like the one we attended in March, it is a way for Disney to entice you to renew your AP. They had a special cart out by the entrance to Bug's World where you could renew right there! Ours was in DCA on or about St. Patrick's Day so they had green lighting all over. It was really cool!

The one that we went to was the first one that they did and the line-up to enter DCA was CRAZY - all around the esplanade! Luckily, my wife and I were right near the front, so it wasn't that bad. We have a dear friend that is a CM in the ticket booths and she stated that for the second one, they had a much better outcome because they knew what to expect.

Vikingbro, thanks so much for the info. What kind of character meet and greets did they have when you went? The blog also said they were encouraging retro dress from the 40's. I am assuming it would be like Dapper Days. I have only been to the one of those, and it was by accident since I was already there in the park.

I would love to go, but not sure of the feasibility of it. Most of the hotels I want to stay are either unavailable or sold out right now. Going to check airfares now.:coffee:

I went to the one in March! They had special St. Patrick's day food, like green cupcakes, corned beef and cabbage, and green mac'n'cheese. The food ran out VERY quickly. It was suppose to be for the event only, but it seemed like they had it available all day, so they ran out by the time I got there. Hope you get to go. AP events are always fun!

Would you mind telling me where you found info on the Disney blog about the Sept 2 annual pass holder event? My niece called and she got the postcard too and I'd like to get some details like time etc before I extend my late Aug early Sept trip to attend the party. We are pass holders too but we got the invite to the last event as our expirations dates are in late Sept.

Thanks so much!

My wife and I are not really into the character meet and greets so i am afraid that I do not have the information you desire.

Sorry.

Dsny1mom, it was at Disneyland.com/event.

Thanks! I did call the AP phone number and found out only the AP making the reservation has to have the pass with the required expiration dates. Their guests can have APs that expire any time after 9/2. Trying to decide if it will be worth the extra hotel night and rebooking our airfare to stay the extra night for the party. Decision, decisions.......

Thanks again dalstitch45!

You are quite welcome. Plus, you found the answer to one of the questions I was asking about. Now if I can only make these dates work.pixiedust:

This even looks like a lot of fun. I wish there were a way here at DIS to make a posting or place where AP holders could invite each other. I'm sure if there are some here with a long history they would be trustworthy enough.
The rules don't say the person who's pass is expiring must enter at the same time as those they invite, unless I missed something.

anyway, please PM me if anyone here would be willing to offer to "invite" my wife and I.

If anyone knows if I can invite people, but not go myself, I'd be happy to do so. We can't make it, but would love to help others have fun!

That is very gracious of you. Reading the rules it doesn't state that all have to be present at Check-in or to enter the park as it has with other promotions. Maybe during the registration period which begins on Wednesday there will be more information?
My wife and I would love to attend the event, if you or another reading this thread may want to offer a registration. PM for additional details and e-mails, etc.
This even looks fun as we are huge fans of 80's music. I wonder if the band is the 80's all starz they have at Tomorrowland at times..

It seems kind of odd that the theme is Dapper when Dapper Days is just 10 days later. I hope Disney isn't trying to undercut the official Dapper Day people, as they've worked very hard to build it up. Since this AP event affects only a relatively small market, I suppose it wouldn't hurt the main Dapper Day, but it still seems like they could have gone with a different theme.

To quote the event page
"Wearing your own dapper duds from the 1940s through the throwback threads of the 1980s"

So it's for the 40's through th 80's, not really competing with the unofficial event. Really looking forward to this. Even if I can't get anyone to help out with an invite, I think I'll go to the parks anyway that day just to see the various outfits during the day.

That's pretty much exactly what Dapper Days is. And they even say "dapper duds," which is pulled from Dapper Days as well. DD certainly doesn't own that term, but it seems funny to suddenly have essentially the same theme 10 days before the long-planned Dapper Days event.

I didn't really see it that way. Yes, Disney does seem to be jumping on the Dapper Day bandwagon, but there are other events that use that theme as well, e.g. Jitterbuggin' the Park, the Royal Swing Ball every Saturday night, etc. Another opportunity to dress up at DLR is fine with me! (And it will be a good test drive for my DD shoes!)

Yes, I'm hoping it's simply catering to the big interest in dapperness. I'm just a little sensitive to it because the guy who developed and runs Dapper Day has been afraid that it might be appropriated and he has worked so hard to make it successful. I started thinking, though, that it might not be a bad idea for him to sponsor it jointly with Disney if they were interested, as it takes up the majority of his time and requires so much work on his part. I have no idea how any of that works, so that may not be a viable suggestion and I imagine Disney could do the whole thing if that's what they decided would work best for them, but hopefully they appreciate the extra money Dapper Day has generated for DLR and the person/people who made that possible.
