Annual passholders Dining plan with room only ressie

We're DVC owners and AP holders. We've added the DDP to our upcoming trip. Does anyone know if we can get the AP discount on the DDP too?

Thanks!

There is not a discount on the price of the DDP. You can get an AP discount on a room and then you are eligible to buy the DDP at it's regular price without having to buy a one day park ticket. Before AP holders had to pay rack rate on the room and buy a one day park ticket in order to get the DDP.

So if we have room only reservations and add the dining plan, does that change the reservations to a package deal? We're still not sure 100% sure about our dates, so I don't want to get locked into paying a bunch of cancellation fees if we can't go.

And I'm guessing every person on the ressie needs to have an AP in order to get the DDP added to the room ressie, correct?

No. One adult AP is required.

Yes. Your reservation would be converted to a package (they may have to cancel your room only and rebook as a package. I don't know yet. But I do hear they're using WDT package booking policies). Cancellation policies are the same as with other packages.

As mentioned, you can get a discount on the room if an AP rate is offered. Then the DDP would be added to the package. But you won't get a discount on the dining plan itself.

If you're staying on DVC points, you can add the dining plan to your reservation. But that has nothing to do with whether or not you have an AP.

Hmm, that's good to know. I guess if we do decide on the DP, we'll just add it right before we go. Thanks!

I hope they do this for season passholders. We are upgrading to season passes while there this August, and the CM told me about this last night when I booked our October trip (he didn't say it was only for AP's, and I told him we were going to be seasonals). Bummer.

I would really like to get the DDP without having to buy a one-day ticket for each of us.

They have started giving the DDP to the AP holder booking rooms, believe in started Feb 20th. Booked rooms for May 9th and 10th and was able to book the dining.

Keep in mind the DDPs are a WDTC product. The same rules apply I am sure with adding DDP, as already mentioned this is a package once the dining is added. (Availability, 3 days/72 hours prior, etc.) Most likely for every offer there will be multiple slections to choose from: room and dining, room and deluxe dining, room and wine/dine, etc.

I wish they'd just drop the ticket requirement for everyone. I mean, whether you have an AP (as I've had in the past), or a 10-day no expiration park hopper (as I do now), or even no ticket at all - If you're buying the dining plan for every night of your reservation, then you have to be on Disney property to eat it.

I mean, how many people would buy the dining plan for a 5-night trip and then go to Universal for 2 days of it? And even if you did, then Disney would be making money on food you don't eat.

I just don't see how requiring a ticket of anyone, AP or otherwise, makes financial sense to them. The fewer restrictions they have, the more people will partake. They even should offer a dining plan (maybe charge a few dollars more) for people staying offsite. I'd bet that anyone with a dining plan would be far more likely to spend all their time on Disney property - making it a winning proposition for anyone they sell to.

We have season passes and they gave us the DDP with our room only reservation for April.

Really? That is great! When I call back to give my room preference, I am pretty sure I will sign us up for the DDP. For our August trip we are using 4-day play passes since it's blackout dates for the season passes, so we are getting the DDE and it will pay for itself and then some. In October we'll have seasonal passes and use the DDP. We *love* to eat at WDW!
