Annual Passholder dedicated entrance during the Holiday Season

My first Disney AP from the 90's was a picture drivers license style.
I believe DLR still uses pictures, but not on the card. It's scanned and your pic appears on their screen

DLR actually does that with all multi day tickets. They had a real problem with people selling unused days. It's just a shame now that they have fixed that problem they haven't gone back to selling longer than a 5 day ticket.

If the group is a mix of AP and Non-AP then in my view the AP moves down to go with the non AP group, not the other way around.

It's your choice. If Disney allows both, then each AP holder gets to choose. You can state your rationale for your choice, but its not really nice to criticize others who exercise their option to choose differently.

Please show me where I criticized someone

Perhaps it was when you said "the AP moves down to go with the non AP group". Sounds to me like you think people who don't have AP's are beneath you. :rolleyes2

i'm sorry if this was asked, has anyone been to the parks to see what the exact setup of this special entrance is? is it just a tapstyle or 2 for AP or is there more too it?

I think that was just semantics really, lots of people use move down for move over, slide down for side over and I read it as just move over one tap style. Even Disney uses slide down for slide over when they want to fill in more seats so it doesn't necessarily have to be demeaning or derogatory.

I went through the AP entrance at Epcot yesterday - it was CLEARLY marked and cordoned off. There was a CM asking people if they were an AP holder before they went through and were sent to other lines if they were not. I know one person at the tapstile in front of me turned blue and was sent to another line since this was an AP Holder line.

There were also plenty of Disney Research CMs ready to survey AP holders once they entered the park when I entered.

When we've entered in the IG ever since they installed metal detectors they have sent every guest through them. I even started a thread about it way back when. Luckily the entrance is not heavily used so it's never been a significant delay
I have entered through IG probably 30+ times since the metal detector was installed. I have been chosen 2 times to go through the detector. My husband has probably been chosen about 8 times.

DS was there this week and used it twice at MK. His friend a CM did not use it. One time they got through the same time and one time the CM beat the AP. He said most the folks in front of him did not have APs and the CMs were letting them through. And since they were scanning blue, they had to override each one in addition deal with the guests inability to use the scanners. Most were very clear since they held plastic tickets that were not AP tickets. No one was asked to move to the other line.

He said, and I think opposite what we expected, that the line was the first line you hit after you go through security and not to the far left or right. I even posted a photo early that verified this. He said everyone through security was heading direct to the AP line since instinct is go to the closest line.

He said it was absolutely pointless and zero perk when non-AP lines were moving much faster - and non-AP holders were permitted to use the AP line.

The one at Epcot was the most far-left available tapstile - but it had two different heights of signage indicating that it was for Passholders AND it had stanchions cordoning it off from general flow. If someone went through that line saying they had no idea it was a special line, I would think they needed their eyesight checked.

Just about every FP line has two check points, right when you enter and later. It's to make sure someone hasn't just ducked under the line from the stand by line.
OT-What rides are they making you scan your band twice to get on? Frozen was the only ride I had to do that on in November. Thanks.

We used the AP entrances at MK (just got back yesterday) and it probably saved ~5 mins per entry. There were 6-8 tapstiles (I didn't count, but I recall 3-4 lanes with 2 each) and no lines whatsoever both in morning and afternoon. The regular tapstiles were 8-10 people deep. As everyone is saying, the bag check was the slower process. The AP entrances are very clearly marked. It was pretty much "eh", but I guess it's a nice 5 minute benefit.

In MK the AP lines were smack dab in the middle. If you came in bagless, it would be quite convenient. We had a bag so usually went to the right and then back to the center for the AP lines.

At Epcot yesterday (12/23) it was over to the far left.

They've covered most the 2nd FP tapstiles. Scanning twice is rare now, vs the norm. FEA still uses the 2nd one and I know RnR does. 7D does. Maybe one or two others, I forget now. Majority are disabled.

Which really stinks... It used to be that first "validated" and second "redeemed," so if you got in and the ride went down, you could exit without losing your FP.

Now they give you a paper anytime FP if it goes down while you are in line

Oh - that's good. Same difference. The only time I've had it happen they basically offered "stay or leave," no FPs (though it was a closure due to weather, so maybe that's why?)
