Annual Passholder dedicated entrance during the Holiday Season

I also noticed a number of times some people weren't doing the second scan in some FP lines.
OT-What rides are they making you scan your band twice to get on? Frozen was the only ride I had to do that on in November. Thanks.

No, it just says January, I'm thinking they might leave it until marathon weekend
A friend of mine who goes to Disney everyday (it's a challenge thing she's doing) says that the ap entrance has cut her time a lot, she has not have had to wait at all, she's used it at MK and Epcot
We used the AP entrance at HS this morning and it was much quicker. It was also nice to not be jostled and banged by a horde of people. We are first-time AP holders (as of yesterday!) so we were excited to use this new perk :).

Is there an AP entrance at International Gateway? I will be there in about 3 weeks. Thanks.

It seems like this thread is mostly AP holders grousing that WDW is not delivering on what they expected WDW to deliver. The raw truth is that it's all WDW's game, and they make the rules. If they want to allow friends and family of AP holders to use the dedicated lines, that's their call. IMHO, that makes sense anyway, as it isn't very magical to split up parties that are visiting .
If the group is a mix of AP and Non-AP then in my view the AP moves down to go with the non AP group, not the other way around.

Update: Today at Epcot they were only letting AP holders go through the AP line. Mixed parties were mostly being sent to the main touchpoints. My co-workers in main entrance have all heard different things. So, this is one of those great examples of Disney's crystal-clear communication to CMs. pixiedust:

Moves DOWN? Do you hear yourself? So God forbid someone moves UP and deign try to associate with the AP holders.

Here's a reality check. That line still works for everyone with valid park entry. They aren't going to send someone away from the touchpoint because they don't have an AP.

According to yulilin's first post, the dedicated AP lines are located at the main entrance to each park.

***Reminder: Please follow the DIS Guidelines when discussing the dedicated AP entrance lines. Everyone is welcome to share their opinion of this new AP perk.

Apparently the line does indeed only work for AP, not for everyone and they ARE sending people who don't have APs to other lines. There are posts just before yours confirming This.

Yes, there is one at International Gateway, but you didn't need to use it because everyone went through one metal detector, so there was no benefit. However, I haven't encountered any back-ups at that entrance over the last couple days anyway. It's such a great entry to Epcot.

Thanks for the first hand info.
So they are now making everyone go thru the metal detector? They were making very few people go thru it in November.
It is a great entrance!

Ok, then use the phrase, AP holder gives up their perk to enter with the rest of their party. Fair? It is to me but I guess not to you. Some guests get a perk that not everyone gets. That is just life. Not everyone gets a trophy

When we've entered in the IG ever since they installed metal detectors they have sent every guest through them. I even started a thread about it way back when. Luckily the entrance is not heavily used so it's never been a significant delay

Even if the AP lines are twice as long as the regular que, they will move faster. Most of the people holding up the lines are new to Disney and confused and stumbling when they meet the finger scanner for the first time.

Am I the only one who doesn't see an AP holder only line as a great perk.I know I'm probably different but I actually enjoy seeing things like your example of new visitors meeting the finger scanner.I rarely encounter a line to get in the park that feels out of control or something that I can't wait for.On a somewhat related story Sea World just changed the way pass holders enter the park. They take your picture right at the turnstiles and every time you enter again they just scan your pass and look at your picture to make sure it matches,no more fingers.

Agreed. My wife and I took our 8month DS which was our first time with the 3 of us. We are long time WDW vets and this was our first time with AP. Even with our stroller, we already had all our bags out etc, ready to be searched. The line took forever not from security but from the other guests just being casual. I'm casual myself so I don't want to give the impression I was in a rush, but all you have to do is just have your stuff ready.

My first Disney AP from the 90's was a picture drivers license style.
I believe DLR still uses pictures, but not on the card. It's scanned and your pic appears on their screen

That's what we experienced, but we never went through first thing in the morning when there were people waiting. Maybe if there was any kind of wait they would select people? They even made a comment about it to someone who asked if it was random, and the response was something like, "random, and everyone". We ended up just heading through it every time to save the confusion.

I think all the parks at some point had pictures on the passes. My moms Sea World pass since its been paid on EZ Pay since like 2001 has never needed to be replaced and since she keeps it in good condition she still has her plastic one with a pic on it.She's been having issues with it not wanting to scan lately especially at the restaurants for the passholder dining plan so she may need to get it replaced soon.
