Annual Passholder dedicated entrance during the Holiday Season

Oh - that's good. Same difference. The only time I've had it happen they basically offered "stay or leave," no FPs (though it was a closure due to weather, so maybe that's why?)
Must have something to do with clearing the queue or letting folks stay in line. When we were in line at Kali they closed the ride for weather, and cleared the line. We got paper FP to return once the weather cleared

They've covered most the 2nd FP tapstiles. Scanning twice is rare now, vs the norm. FEA still uses the 2nd one and I know RnR does. 7D does. Maybe one or two others, I forget now. Majority are disabled.

Space Mountain also has a second scan :)

Perhaps it was when you said "the AP moves down to go with the non AP group". Sounds to me like you think people who don't have AP's are beneath you. :rolleyes2
I took that as "move down to a different tapstile".

ETA: apparently I'm a bit late with my response... others have already pointed this out.

Just got back & thought I'd provide some of our experience. Used AP line at MK on 12/24 & it definitely saved time. There was only 1 family ahead of us. Only 2 tapstiles open though so when the family had issues scanning 1 of their children in it held up the line because they blocked both with all of the strollers, other kids, etc. Still though, we got through pretty quick (minutes) vs the lines that looked at least 10 families deep on the regular entrances. On 12/25 we used it at HS & no line. 4 tapstiles were open. On 12/24-12/26 we went to EP at different times. All entries were through IG & they did have an AP line with 4 tapstiles. A few times we did use it & it saved time as there was a backup at the regular entry. Other times we didn't bother because there was no line. Also, sometimes everyone went through the detector, sometimes only select people went through. I did notice that depending on how busy the entry was, sometimes the AP line was faster even if you all go through the detector just because of backups at the regular lines from people with entry issues.

Cool, now all I have to do is convert my son's tickets to APs (which we were planning on doing anyway) and at least I'll have 2 days of enjoying it during my trip next week. Now if we could just get our own bag check line.
Yes - please can we have our own bag check line! Sadly though, even if this is extended, it won't help me on my next trip in March as I'll be visiting with my non-AP Dad who is also a first timer. Oh well ;)

We have been using the AP tapstiles this week even when there are no lines at the regular tapstiles. My thinking is, if the APs don't use it when they offer it Disney will probably take it away. So we have been going out of our way to take advantage of this perk in hopes that it will stay.

I did the same thing.

I think they get rid of them when they shrink the tapstiles to make room for the exits.

that's what I figured, actually they appeared to be testing a new get from transportation to security thing, it was really efficient I would say if they can keep up those improvements, they don't need the ap entrance.. it was quick, painless and smooth for once.

So how did the new "transportation to security" system work?

The closed off 1 of the tables closest to the lake on the right side and just ran a rope back to the gates they rarely open near the bus. In addition they made use of ropes all over the walkways and for the first time they made sense where you had to stay left. It was really smooth as nobody had to cross in front of each other and nobody had to merge with a larger group coming from another mode of transportation.

It's minor but having been in that area during really crowded weekends like 4th of july, you can tell that someone is putting in a lot of effort on how to make park entrances better or they hired someone that is an expert at moving around large groups of people and they have their attention on how to have crowds but not congestion.. I suspect this is why there is a new opening show at the castle.

It just felt like they were testing new ideas like they are getting ready to formallize some constuctions changes and make it more permanent.

Accident, if this was at MK, was is for the busses, water transportation, or monorails?

I really like the AP lines. My mom & I arrived later in the day on Wednesday and used at Epcot and Magic Kingdom. In either parks, there was no line. We got through in a matter of seconds. Very convenient and I felt like a VIP. :)

My DH and I were at MK on Jan 18th and there was an AP only park entrance line. We got in it at first because it was the shortest then I saw the AP sign and we had to switch lines. We had almost gotten AP tickets this year so I took note of it as a possible perk. We decided not to buy because I had been seeing info about possible AP restrictions for new stuff and I did not want to be disappointed. I feel like APs should get MORE perks, not less. Hopefully what I was reading will not turn out to be true.

Thanks for sharing this! I thought this was only through the holidays... any word on it sticking around longer or -- dare I hope -- permanently?

We were there last week and the perk was still there although I don't know if I consider it a perk 3/4 times the AP line was slower than regular line. I made sure to keep and eye of who we would have been behind when going in the line. Only one time was faster and that was because the little kid forgot which finger to use .
