Annual passes...I have questions

Long story short, I have 2 upcoming Dis trips (1 booked, 1 in planning stage) for a total of 13-14 (not sure of trip 2’s length) days and have been told an AP is probably the way to go. It is unusual for me to go more than once a year so I hit the net, which answered almost as many questions as it raised and I am in need of guidance. Any help is appreciated.

1. The plan would be to upgrade once I arrive for my December stay. I would then be using the AP for the remaining days of park time. Would this mess up my FP+? Either erasing them since I was now on a different ticket or cancelling them because I read that AP holders can only have 7 days of pre-booked FP+ in a 30 day period and I have a 9 day stay.

2. Is it true about only 7 days of FP+ in a 30 day period? What do you do for a longer stay? I think MYW tickets give you 60+10 to make FP so AP holders not having the same window seems unfair since they are committed customers. I would be staying on property if that makes a difference.

3. How hard is it to find a week to book using the discount? Is it like FD where the first crazy day sees the best rooms/hotels gone or is there less urgency? It would suck to always be shut out.

4. My second trip would be me in one room and a snoring friend in another. Assuming I book both rooms under my name to get her the discount, would she have to stay in the same category room as I do? Or could I be Water view and she GArden view?

Upgrading the ticket to an AP should not affect your FP+ selections.

From the 'Walt Disney World Annual Passholders Can Enjoy MyMagic+' page:
If you are an Annual Passholder, you are also invited to plan 7 days of FastPass+ selections within any 30-day period—for 1 park per day. Your 7 days don’t have to be consecutive and you can plan for an additional day as soon as one of your existing days has passed.

You can choose up to 3 FastPass+ experiences per day up to 30 days in advance of your visit—so you can relax and enjoy the moment with your family and friends, knowing that some of your must-do attractions and entertainment are all set.

If you are staying at a Disney Resort hotel, you can make your FastPass+ selections up to 60 days prior to check-in. Plus, you may hold FastPass+ selections for up to 7 days or the length of your hotel stay—whichever is greater!

Upgrading the ticket to an AP should not affect your FP+ selections.

Thanks! I missed the 60 day paragraph. Guess I should have been doing my work and not planning vacation at my desk today :)

I always book what I want in advance and haven't really had a problem modifying when the discount comes out. It's usually about 3 months out. We've only had to change resorts once.

That is good to hear. The 3 month tip is good to know.
