Hiya

Im new over on this board so hello!

My dbf and I are considering buying the annual pass or preffered annual pass for the two universal parks. which one do you think will be best, we will be visiting december 05 and Sept 06.

Also when do the passes start? if we order them online today could they start in december or would they start now

thanks for any help

First of all, Welcome to the boards! There are so many wonderful people here that are extremely helpful in answering all your questions. Their knowledge has been invaluable to us for our many trips!

The annual pass starts on the day you first use it - at least ours did last August. So if you buy today but don't use it till December, you will have a year from the day you first use it in December. We bought ours last year in June but didn't go to the parks until Aug. 3rd, 2004. Our expiration date is Aug. 3, 2005.

I would recommend getting the Preferred Annual Pass for the discounts that come with it. You will get APH (annual pass holder) discounts on the resorts, 20% discounts in the stores and some carts - the ones with actual cash registers and 10 -15% discounts on meals throughout the parks and City Walk.

For us, they have more than paid for themselves on the several trips we have used them for and with all the discounts!

One thing to point out is when in December are you going. I could be wrong, but I believe that between Christmas and New years is blacked out for the Power Pass.

But, if you're going towards the beginning of December, how about splitting the price and buying 1 power pass and 1 preferred, since you only need one pass to get discounts on food, merchandise and free parking. Splitting that way wouldn't save you a whole lot of money, but it each save you a bit.

hiya

we are there from 1st december,

good idea about getting one of each

There are 5 in our family and we never visit at peak times so 1 of us has a PAP and the others have Power Passes. Works out great with free parking and dining discounts!

Sorry to get in on this late but do ALL of the resturants on City Walk give APH discounts?

I don't believe that Emeril's gives APH discounts but I could be wrong!

Thanks for the quick reply. Are you pretty sure about the rest though? We probably wouldn't be going to Emeril's anyway.

I'm pretty sure that Emeril's is the only one that doesn't give AP discounts. I've used my AP at Pastamore, Margaritaville, and also some of the counter services like Starbucks and Cinnabon and got a discount.

Yes, quickly looking at the benefits, it looks like you get a discount everywhere except Emeril's.

Be sure to check the Blackout dates, it would be aweful to get there & one pass not work - especially concidering you are going during the holiday season.

Through AAASouth you can get an annual power pass that is good for 15 mths, for $115.00! Go to www.aaasouth.com to get the info. We are going in Oct/05, and by getting the 15 mth pass, we can plan another trip for Dec/06.
