annual pass

A very large photo pops up on their screen. my wife and i look similar and when we went to the park a while ago, we pulled the passes out of the wallet and she took mine and I took hers. We look similar, and when the ticket man took my id and scanned it, he looked at the screen, then looked at me funny and since wife was already inside from a different line and not behind me, the guy was not letting me in. He said it was against rules to use someone else's pass and called over the supervisor. in the meantime my wife finally realized I wasn't with her and came over and then the ticket man finally realized that we had just got our passes confused. the supervisor gave us a talking to- about how serious it is using someone else's pass. Their pass would be revoked, and some people have been banned from the parks for doing this.

Yeap - you can be banned from DL :scared1: not worth it to me. There was a thread on here a while back with stories about people trying to do this and being banned.

It is not only a large photo.. But a large Color Photo....

Which is why I think it's important to get your AP early in the day when you're not sweaty or tired, with nice hair and makeup (if you wear such a thing). That picture follows you around! :rotfl:

Right now I'm watching Jon and Kate plus 8, so it comes to mind that identical twins might get away with it, but then they would never be able to enjoy the parks together! :(

It is a roll of the dice. It might work no problem or it might result in you getting banned. The CMs usually look at the picture when they scan it and it shows up on their monitor and often they say welcome and use your name as that also appears with the photo.

If you do try it and get caught don't implicate your friend, just say you found it and that way she can get it back. If you admit she let you use it she will lose the AP and could get banned too.

If you do indeed go for it do it when the lines are busy, not when it is slow and they are being extra attentive. Also when they scan it distract them by saying good day to them by using their first name. I'm not advocating doing this but if you so choose to try it be crafty about it atleast. I don't feel particularly bad about it, the Disney empire is going to get enough of your money anyways!

I am watching Jon & Kate plus + 8 too! And, I completly agree with you about the pictures. My goodness, I don't know why I always look ridiculous but I've had like 5 different pictures and none are good.

Me too! My AP pics are always worse than my drivers license pics and those may as well be props on the Haunted Mansion!

Someone should start a thread on the worst AP pics, it could be funny.

I was stopped at the gate once and I was using my own pass. I was told that the pic didn't look like me so I pulled out my driver's license. She said that it really didn't look like me either. I had my kids and DH there. DH insisted it was me and that I was the kids mom. You see I''m a different race from DH. We called the supervisor and I even took out my work ID, my business card, driver's license, Costco card and any other thing that had a pic on it and my name. You could tell gate attendant didnt' want to be wrong but the shift lead told me to get my picture retaken as I looked little older and bigger in pic...uh duh I was pregnant in my photo.

We met with an actual supervisor (not a lead saying she was a supervisor) and they said my AP looked like me. We told them what happened and all the things I pulled out to prove that was me. She called the gate attendant (it shows what gate you entered) and they gave that CM a stern talking to along with the shift lead.

BTW - my brother's are identical twins and came in once using their APs and the CM had to get a supervisor to ok it because she wanted to make sure that they weren't pulling a fast one on her. They came in through the same gate and she even had both passes. I swear, maybe they do need to do fingerprint scans like Sea World.

Last time I was there I accidently used my son's AP (grabbed the wrong one he wasn't with me). The CM didn't say anything, I didn't even realize it until I went to put it away & I saw my AP. I went back to the CM and explained to her what happened. She seemed embarrassed as I do not look like a 14 yo boy. I apologized, she said no, I'm sorry I should have caught that. She then scanned my AP.
There is a BIG picture that pops up on the screen!

The picture is huge!!!! Full screen shot of your face with your name by it. :) They always say welcome and use our names, which is weird for me because my legal name is Kathryn but I go by Kerri. LOL The first few times it freaked the kids out too because they couldn't figure HOW they knew their names, I told them it was Disney Magic the first few times but then told them and showed them how we knew. On DD8's b-day it even popped up that it was her b-day and that was pretty cool! :)

We had Season Passes at 6 Flags before realizing Disney was the way to go and when I had my picture done my hair was pulled back and up away from my face (I usually wear it like that), one trip the ticket scanner refused me entrance because I didn't look like me.....I was wearing my hair in braids on that trip, I pulled out my DL, my cc, my kids were standing there, my DBF was standing there too. They were not going to let me in......I was so mad, I argued and argued and so did my kids and DBF, finally they let me in and I walked right over to processing and got a new pass. It really was ridiculous.
Of course that's not DL but still. I wouldn't do this, it's dishonest and you may get banned, your friend may get banned, why take the chance?

First off, I'm kind of shocked some of you seem to be condoning the idea at all; giving ideas on what would be the best way to get away with this.

As for the picture situation, I had a beard when I first got my AP, which I have since shaved off. I don't get stopped ever at the gate, but I have had CMs do a double-take.

I am definatly not condoning the idea. I was just explaining my recent experience.

NO condoning here!! No way! I think the OP needs to buy their own AP or ticket for the day. :)

DBF changes his facial hair all the time, he never gets questioned altho he looks verrrrrry different without his facial hair.

No, you aren't... I understand accidents. But for say Doombugger to give hints on how to best make this work? And justifying it because Disney will make enough money anyway? As far as I'm concerned, they are entitled to it: They built an empire and nothing says you have to go in the first place. If it's so attractive you want to keep returning, they desreve the money.

Or for the OP to use his/her first post for this question? Not cool.

I didn't even realize it was the OP's first post. Well, if, just in case, the post was meant to rile things up, let's not let that happen!

The CM had both of them there, with both APs, and she still needed to figure out if they were being sneaky? That's just funny.

Oh please don't go with the scans like SW, they have NEVER worked for me (and I'm not even going to think about the experience with DS and the scan) and it takes ages to try again and again and finally be waved through.

On DD8's b-day it even popped up that it was her b-day and that was pretty cool! :)

Ooh, now that is cool! Oh I hope someone notices on DS's b'day and surprises him with a HB.

I wasn't really condoning it.

A question was asked, that is all.

Just pay like the rest of us, you'll feel better about it as honestly is always the better path.

I didn't realize it was the first post either. LOL Yup, just someone just trying to start some drama......LOL

Molly, it was cute, it said Happy Birthday Jade on the screen in big letters, we didn't notice it until the CM at DCA later in the day said something to her as we came in, DBF noticed it and said "hey look, the screen says Happy Birthday" so the CM let us all look before she scanned the next pass.

Thank you, dbanzai, for bringing some ethical reasoning to the thread. :thumbsup2

Although many were sharing experiences about mix-ups, which are completely understandable, no one, until you, specifically criticized the idea of cheating the system.

I, for one, would never consider using someone else's pass to try to "get away with it". If I plan to enjoy the services, I plan to pay for them.
