Annual pass-What is correct renewal date

My previous annual pass expired on March 8, 2008 and we renewed it on March 11, 2008 while we were there for our trip. The other day when I was looking at the passes for our upcoming trip I noticed that the date of expiration on them was March 8, 2009. Is this correct? Do they date them according to when they expired, or if I had waited to buy them 30 days later would my expiration date have still been March 8, or are my dates incorrect on my passes? Help I think I'm confused

Yes that is correct. When you renew an AP, the new pass is good for one year from the expiration of the old pass. In other words, you are extending your old pass for one year.

Yes, that is why I usually just start a "new" pass instead of renewing when I won't be using the pass for awhile.
