Annual Pass Upgrade Question

Can a 6 Day Park Hopper Pass be upgraded to an Annual Pass?

Thanks!

Yes. You take what you paid for the 6 day hopper and pay the difference to the AP you want. The PH must still be good, that is not expired and before the 6th day of use ends. The AP will be good for 12 months starting on the day you first used the PH.

Take into consideration what day you will use the Magic Morning on the PH, because if you upgrade before that you will loose that benefit of the PH. But you will recieve AP discounts once you have the AP.

Yes. So long as you do so before it expires (by the 6th day) then you can apply it toward an annual pass. You will have to pay the difference between what you paid for the 6-day and the price of the AP. You may want to use the park-hopper to get Magic Morning entry and then upgrade afterward, but you will miss out on the discounts prior to the upgrade.

ETA: Skiingfast beat me to it :)

Hiya

We bought a vacation package through Disney, staying at a Disney hotel. Can we upgrade one of the souvenir 6 day pass hoppers from the package to an annual pass? We could still do MM using the hotel passcards right? By my calculations it would cost roughly $120 to upgrade to a deluxe pass, and then we'd get the 10% dining and merchandise discounts for our week long stay?

Thanks for the help in advance :)

Yes you may, just like we explained above. And you are quite right that as an onsite guest you will get MM anyway so there is no harm in upgrading right away and using the discount the rest of the visit.

Now this may mess you up. You may see what the tip would cost at an AP rate if you can cancel still(30 days without a fee). Maybe it will be cheaper. You will have to get your AP right away when you arrive because you will need it at check in.

Also to compicate things more. If you are just visiting once and not multiple times over a year. Only the person who pays needs the AP for everyone. Such as when a group eats the payer needs the AP. So it's possible just an AP for one of the group will get the benefits for all instead of paying for everyone to get an AP.

One thing that no one has mentioned, but is important, the cost of the AP must be more than what you paid for your ticket. (Or if you enter the park first, more than the current value of a 6 day ticket in this case).

In other words, you can always go up, but you cannot go down.

Cheers :) I thought the souvenir parkhopper passes would be the same as normal parkhoppers but I just wanted to be sure. No we're within 30 days and its all paid for already, we got an ok package so I'm happy with all that. I'm just keen on the dining and merchandise discounts, I'm sure we'll spend enough to save that much easily by the time we feed 5 of us for a week and buy souvenirs. We probably will only be there once as a family this year so we will only upgrade one pass.

Thanks again for all the great advice given on this site, you DIS boarders are the best :cheer2:
