annual pass ? strategy

I am going to at least buy one annual pass for this upcoming trip to save $ at the resort. I have a few questions...

When is the latest I can buy the pass for our trip? Is there a chance of a price change or would they have done it at the beginning of the year?

Also, I know the annual member gets a discount for renewal but,,,,would we get a discount on the 3 new memberships (next year) when we renew the one we already have? I hope that makes sense

I'm pretty sure that you would only get the renewal discount for the one pass, since the others wouldn't be renewals.

You will probably need at least a voucher to check in. You could buy the pass at DD before you reach the resort. As to a price increase, who knows? There is always the chance and no it would not have necessarily had to have been done at the beginning of the year.
You would only get the renewal discount for the one pass being renewed. you cannot get a renewal discount for something you don't have.

I worded my question wrong..

what I meant was would I get a discount on the 3 annual passes like I would if I were buying hoppers? I believe passholders get a discount on park tickets?? or am I totally off my rocker?? lol

also, is the passholder discount good in the gift shops @ the parks or only at Downtown Disney?
