Annual pass renewal question

We are annual pass holders and our passes do not expire until spring but have some extra money and thinking of purchasing renewal now. Does the pass have the date of purchase of annual passes or the date the confirmation number is used at the park. We also have a few trips between now mad when they expire does that become an issue because passes will be used. Would like to pay them off now but not activate til needed.

Renewals retain the same date. If it expires 7-1-13, the renewal expires 7-1-14. I don't believe you can buy a renewal until 30 days before expiration.

Someone recently reported being allowed to buy a renewal voucher more than 30 days ahead. I think they did so to beat the recent price increase.

OP: The only reason I can see to purchase so early is to beat a price increase but you are too late for that now. Why not just hold on to the money until you really need to renew the APs? What if your plans change and you have to postpone your trip? You might decide to get new APs rather than a renewals so you have more time to use them.
