Annual Pass Question?

I know this is older, but just wanted to see if anyone has went the past few weeks and was able to keep their Silver or Gold pass that was bought before the 8th and was bought online, not a certificate.
I think situations like yours may be handled on a case-by-case basis. You certainly have a valid argument that you made plans for Columbus Day weekend and bought your son a ticket which was valid for those dates. I have heard Guest Relations may give comp tickets for the blacked-out dates if you already had a trip booked. This may need to be dealt with in-person as it seems the phone CMs are somewhat limited in what they can do but onsite CMs have more ability to make accommodations. Good luck!

They have gold and silver calendars that go through September 2022. I am curious too since I bought 1 gold and 3 silver passes that were supposed to be activated March 2020. Since we never activated them I have been waiting and now plan on activating them March 2022, which is blocked out on the new passes (Florida spring break). I can make reservations for the dates I want so I will probably do that and hope for the best. We are definitely long weekend and spring break people so preferred the old silver schedule vs the new one.

Online purchases of NEW passes is in certificate form.
That is not what 2 different cm's told me, this is why I'm confused. I will not be a happy camper if I get to Disney and they say he can't go in because he blacked out, when right now it shows on my mde that he has reservations....

Could people in this thread use the term "blocked out" instead of blacked out? I sound like the grammar police, but it bugs me 😆

Hey, novel idea here! What if Disney would give passholders the option to activate a purchased AP under the old or new rules? Even just until the end of the calendar year? That would accommodate Holiday goers for the next few months, save a lot of CMs time fielding calls, many would choose the new rules and I think it smacks of the old Disney Magic.

One could only dream,lol ;)

I think if you took the time to read all the legal fine print going forward for any purchase…legal will protect Disney from the Covid compensation , etc… and many other important details with price surging weather delays…I expect most large corporations also .
The Insurance Companies now require a 5 point inspection to cover their losses in future. It includes pricing according to the weather, etc
Orlando area for example: Check your zip code

There have been several reports already of people who had reservations for what would have been blackout dates on the new pass but the CM arranged entrance either through comp tickets or otherwise. Which really is the only legal outcome on this. It will be frustrating because many phone cast members frankly seem to have no idea what's going on here and probably weren't given the resources to handle this over the phone requiring someone to take on faith that Disney can't revoke their reservation at the gate. But it seems that the onsite guest services members understand the implications and have ways to allow people to use their tickets on dates that were publicly advertised as being open to them and then reconfirmed by Disney when Disney gave them a valid reservation for that day. Thanksgiving will be the first big test although we may get some reports in October.

Huh. Blocked out bugs me. I have always heard it termed blacked out. I never heard “blocked out” until the last few weeks here on the Dis. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Nope, I’m not crazy. It is blacked out, not blocked out. So if everyone would please use blacked out. Thanks! :thumbsup2

I started this post about the old passes with a question and would like to keep it that way please. Let's just all agree to disagree, we all say things differently or do things differently, let's leave it at that. I'm not going to change, not asking anyone else to change either.
Back on topic. I pray all goes well with my son's pass when we go in a couple weeks. I still don't feel it's right for Disney to change what we've already paid for, imo

I hope all goes well with your son’s pass too. The important thing seems to be that if your MDE account shows he had park pass reservations made before the new AP program was announced, they’ll provide admission for the dates that he is blocked from using the new AP.

They were made back a few months back before they even announced them, so all I can do is hope. I'd like to think they wouldn't turn someone away after it's shows he has them and after traveling to get there!
