Annual pass purchase for DS

My DS will be going to WDW in March (with his college friends only ) and staying at a value resort, then back to DVC with me in May and November so it will be worth it for me to buy him an annual pass.

Since I am not going on the March trip, can DS redeem the annual pass voucher without me in March since we need to show our DVC card to get the discount? Can he take my DVC card with him? or Is it only possible to purchase an annual pass for a family member when the DVC card holder is present?

I am hoping to save some money on tickets for him and hope that there is a way that I can purchase and redeem the annual pass for his March trip.

Thanks

I think you can do this by calling MS. A number of years ago we needed to renew our elder son's AP at the last minute and a great CM at MS helped me. He needed to pick it up at Will Call which probably won't be the case for your son.

As for whether he would need your member card, I don't know but it wouldn't hurt for him to have it along. Of course, he will need photo id with the same address as you.

Also this thread has made me realize that memories have mingled in my old brain. I've recently posted that I picked up an AP at Will Call at the MK. In actuality, it was my son. :scared1: In my defense :hippie: , I have exchanged quite a few vouchers or bought APs at GS at MK.

I know of an individual who emailed DVC regarding a similar scenario (child buying AP without parent present) and was told that a deeded owner MUST be present in order to get the discount.

That said, I would take along a copy of the parent's photo ID and DVC member ID and give it a shot. Ultimately it will be up to the front-line Guest Relations CM to approve or deny the discounted pass purchase. My suspicion is they will allow it more often than not.

An AP is definitely worth it for that many trips. Call MS. I beleive if you purcahse it over the phone and pay for it, all he has to do is pick up the voucher at check-in and take it to Guest Services at one of the parks. But I would call MS to make sure he won't need the DVC member card.

As said above, I think if you call ahead and make the request (be sure to get the CM's name) you might be ok. That is, of course, dependent on your son having a valid driver's license showing his legal address is the same as yours since the discount is only available to immediate family residing in the same household as the DVC member.

Good luck! :)

Thanks for all the replies! I called MS today and they said that I would purchase thru them. When DS goes to pick up, they will have notation attached and all DS has to do is show his drivers license and to have him bring copy of my DL and DVC membership card.

Thank you. You were all so helpful........
