Since coming to the site this morning on my iPad (the way I usually visit the DIS), an annoying pop-up ad is appearing every time I open a new browser window or just move to the next page in a thread. It appears across the bottom of the screen.
If I ignore it, and scroll through the page, it doesn't just sit there quietly, it bounces up and causes a huge visual distraction as I'm trying to read through a thread.
Some of the ads I'm able to close with no problem. However, it's frustrating having to close the ad on every single page I open up. Not to mention, on some of the ads, when I click the X to close the ad, it doesn't close the ad but takes me to a page for the ad itself, in the same window, navigating me away from the DIS.
This ad situation only appears on this site, so I'm thinking this might be a new "feature" admins are trying out? It doesn't seem like it could be something highjacking my iPad browser (Safari). If so, I'm providing feedback that it's a very unpleasant feature and will cause me to spend much less time here on the iPad. I'm going to turn on the laptop in a minute and see if I experience the same thing there.
Can you please verify whether this is something admins are testing out / introducing? If it's not something the site has introduced, I'm going to have to Google how to fix the problem if it's on my end.
Thanks!
