As some suggested writing letters to Disney complaining about this system, please keep in mind that there may be just as many people writing with complaints about people who want to keep their "options" open and double book.
There has been a LONG list of complaints about restaurants having no availability.
We recently tried to get a rservation for Spoodles and were told there was NO availability. Being in that area anyway, we decided to see if we could get a walk up reservation. We were surprised to find that the restaurant was empty. The manager told us that this happens frequently. She said people double book and dont show up.
She also told us that Disney might go to a credit card deposit for each reservation made with a penalty for late cancellations. Disney has done this frequently for holidays and other sought after dining options.
With the amount of complaints from all sides...not enough availability, double bookings, no shows, cant get two resevations in one day.....Disney will find an answer and the answer may be the same that has worked in the past. Deposit up front. The Food and Wine dinners are prepaid with NO cancellation policy because Disney got burned in the past.
I would hate to see this happen with regular ADRS but if we keep trying to find ways around the system, Disney will close the loop holes. They always do.
