My dh and I are getting ready to book a February trip for 6 days. This is the first time we are going without the kids.

What types of things are there to do without the kids? I know all the regular rides and stuff...but what I'm interested in are the things that you don't normally get a chance to do when you take the kids....

Ideas?

DH and I are going in December. I booked the Illiuminations Dessert Party. It has desserts and wine. Seems like a nice romantic way to spend an evening.

Just a word...
I suggest that you might want to do a search on these boards regarding those who have experienced this event.

I know you CAN do this with the kiddies, but its much more expensive that way. We don't have kids so its not an issue for us.

But last trip we did Wild Africa trek at AK ... it was Awesome ! Though it does cost a bit :)

If you're interested in gardening at ALL i would suggest the "Behind the Seeds" Tour in the Land in EPCOT. 1st ride the boat (Living with the Land) through the green houses & when you get back sign up at the counter beside Soarin. You'll get to walk through everything you just saw ... sure make the folks on teh boats ponder who you are! Cost is $20.00 each.

The other tour i can whole-heartedly recommend is Disney Marcelline to MK. It starts at 8:00 and you get some wonderful behind the scene information while the park is empty. We even got to be the 1st riders on HM and when we got off we actually got to go IN ... super exciting to stand just behind the ballroom scene. The tour was 3 hours long and we both agreed that it was more fun that the Keys to the Kingdom tour !! Now don't quote me but i believe it was around the $40.00 mark.

Other than that i would suggest you take time to just sit and people watch! Think about out of the way places to eat that don't usually get much chatter .. the Wave in the Contemporary hit some major high notes for both of us. Close enough to the MK for a quick break and we found it more subdued compared to the hustle of sit-down places in the parks.

This last point will more than likely get shot down by most but ... sleep in at least once! Make your FP+ for after lunch and enjoy a sit-down breakfast before you hit the park. Having a cup of REAL coffee in a mug can be a nice change from the refillable - quasi brew of the food courts :lmao:

We did an anniversary trip a few years ago, and the highlight was dinner at California Grill.

When we go without the kids, we love to spend lots of time just roaming around World Showcase in Epcot. We typically don't spend too much time there when we are with the kids because they prefer to be riding rides.

The Characters in Flight balloon ride at DTD is really neat. My wife and I really enjoyed it.

How about a carriage ride? Or a moonlit stroll holding hands . Sometimes it's the simple things that are the most special you could check out one of the resorts hot tubs.

DH & I are 20-somethings with no kids yet, but are AP holders. Here are some of our favorite things to do:

Find a cozy corner inside La Cava and enjoy a margarita & chips.
Visit Jellyrolls one night, and stroll the boardwalk after dark.
Tour the various Deluxe Resorts and their respective restaurants/lounges.
Take the drawing class at Hollywood Studios and compare your artwork afterwards.
Visit a Signature restaurant for your anniversary dinner and let them spoil you.
Take breaks to people watch, you see the most interesting people at Disney.

Hope this helps :)

We eat at the finer dining venues, play some golf, go to the bars at the various resorts (I love Martha's Vineyard because it is quiet), spend more time in EPCOT, pick a place that you would not normally stay with the kids. Enjoy the nightlife in Downtown Disney like at Bongos, Raglan Road, or Paradiso 37. We like the EPCOT Resorts area so we can walk around the boardwalk, go to the dance club. What about doing one of the behind the scenes tours? We had a special tray of wine, cheese and crackers delivered to the room. Watch the fireworks from the beach of the Polynesian resort or from the top of Bay Lake Tower.

When my DH and I went, the most wonderful part was simply going at OUR own pace and doing the things WE wanted to do! And we did things together that we would never be able to afford to do as a family such as the Wishes Dessert Party. You will have a wonderful time - enjoy!

We're doing an anniversary/no kids trip in March and doing some of the things PP's have mentioned - Keys to the Kingdom tour (our DS's aren't 16 yet, which is how old you need to be), plan on going to JellyRolls, spending more time than usual just strolling WS. We're eating at a signature restaurant on our actual anniversary; not that we can't do that with kids, and we have eaten at one sig. with our boys, but we still feel it'll be special. Also staying at the BWV which our kids enjoy, but there's something about taking a leisurely walk back through the IG after Illuminations that I find romantic
