Ok here is the deal my DW and I are planning a trip in Jan 08 for the Disney Marathon but our 10 year anniversary is the next month Feb 14th so I am planning a suprise trip for her and I and the kids are staying home with my mother. Question is we have stayed at all the onsite DVC other than BCV and SSR until Dec 06 then SSR will be complete. I am thinking either AKL or CR concierge which would you choose and why. This is going to be a week trip and we will be spending much of our time at the parks and none if it at the hotel as is usually the case with our trips. Thanks for the input it is appreciated and remember mums the word she can't find out or it will kill my suprise.

I have been to both of the resorts ... I like AKL. The concierge had a cappiccino (sp?)coffee maker. I loved making one and bringing it back to the room and watch the animals. Very magical. They do have the sunset safari dinner at Jiko(haven't done that). That sound like the perfect anniversary date night to me!
Have a great trip.

I'd vote for AKL. We loved teh embiance, the animals, the restaurants, the animals, the pool, the animals.... ;) I even went out to the balcony to see the animals when I got up to go to the bathroom at night!

First, congratuations! and how romantic... a valentines wedding!

My first thought between the two was AKL. I find it a very romantic hotel. Very rich in atmosphere. We stayed concierge last Feb (w/kids) and really enjoyed the experience. It is very nice having that lounge for snacks and drinks though out the day. If you do stay there, take part in the Sunrise or Sunset Safari's. The Sunrise Safari was great! I would love to do it again but don't know when we can do concierge again. We also loved the food at AKL. However, if you don't like AKL's restaurants, you might be advised to stay elsewhere. The seperation of AKL from the rest of Disney is both part of it's charm but also it's weakness. You mentioned being in the parks all of the time. Unlike the MK or Epcot resorts you will not be within walking/monorail/boat distance of any park. CR has the advantage there. I have not stayed at CR so can't compare the two.

Thanks for the info and yes valentines day was a cheesy day to get married but hey it fell on a Saturday that year so we figured why not LOL. I was thinking AKL for the sunrise safari and that reason alone we aren't big fans of the food choices at AKL we have eaten at Boma and it was just ok. I am now also tossing around CSR for the plan we stayed there for a week on our honeymoon along with a week at AS Sports and Dixie for a week. WE always spend 95% of our time in the parks or out shopping and are hardly ever in the room/resort even when we have the kids but this is a sans children trip. We have eaten at CG and it was good but not stellar the only reason for CR concierge is for the tower room and the view of the MK fireworks those are the only reasons for choosing those 2 resorts other than that they have no real daw for us.

I'd suggest the Polynesian Concierge. We spent an anniversary there, and IMHO, there's nothing more romantic than the Polynesian. Wandering the paths at night with the island music, the flickering tiki torches and the Castle accross the bay....

No desire to see the Poly or the GF we just don't care for them I guess to be honest we are more a value and moderate kinda family. I even prefer CSR to OKW and BCV and VWL LOL. Hmm what to do what to do. Also this isn't a romance type holiday it is a lets get a week away by ourselves to have fun holiday nothing about romance comes to play when we are at Disney it is all about the kid within us.

Just for good measure we will be using our DVC points for the stay no matter where it ends up being I have also considered SSR and BWV but am leaning towards something different this time around. Now please put this thread back on the DVC planning board where it was moved to the first time it got moved.
