Just back from the 10/2 WONDER

Background: our 20th anniversary (no kids) (left all 4 at home) and my cousins surprise honeymoon cruise for his bride just married on 9/27

part 3
Friday: castaway day
Woke up early enough to see the ship pull into castaway. We had a view of the island. It was partly cloudy but very warm. While we waited in line for our towels a little girl between the age of 2 & 3 was talking to her mommy. The little girl had a problem with her P’s sounding like T’s. She said mommy look at the pretty shi*. Isn’t it a pretty shi*? The shi* won’t leave us here will it? So the mommy tells the little girl it’s a BOAT honey and yes it is very pretty & no it won’t leave us here. Then the mommy turns to the guy in front of us and says we know she has a little problem with her P’s so that’s why we tell her to call it a boat. It was a DISNEY moment. It was sooo funny and this little girl was very cute. Kinda like the one in the little souvenir commercial.
We get our towels and head off to the adult beach. None of us have ever been there. WOW it is so wonderful. It is kinda busy so we walk clear to the far end. We hadn’t noticed that the bathrooms would be a mile walk back. There are now more clouds but doesn’t bother us any. We flag down the drink lady and order 3 konk koolers and one strawberry Margarita. YUM We drink those pretty fast. It is near lunch time and the walk back to get food will talk awhile. As we walk down the beach we see lots of empty places. People are already heading back to the ship. Upon arriving at the adult lunch area we agree that the food at the family beach is better. Not many places to sit in the adult area. After lunch we head back to our stuff and decide to move our things down the beach a little closer to the bathrooms. A very large black cloud is right behind us. Coming from the midwest we could tell this cloud didn’t look very dangerous and decided to stay at the beach when almost everyone else was leaving. It sprinkled for about 5 minutes. We stayed on our loungers and didn’t get very wet at all. There was no one near us. We were almost the only ones on the beach. I think we were about half way between the entrance and the end. A few people were still gathered near the entrance. It cleared off and the sun peaked through. The bride had stepped on something goey so she says and wasn’t wanting to get back into the water. The water was so clear I can’t figure out what it was. DH and I along with the groom were looking at four or five fish swimming around our legs. We begged the bride to come get in and see the fish. She agrees and heads towards the water. I was hanging onto my DH’s back and floating with my legs straight out behind us. We had our backs to the bride and the groom was telling her to come into the water. Just as she got the edge of the water she said what is THAT? I had noticed a patch of seaweed earlier and told her oh its just seaweed walk around it. About that time it moved. YIKES! Turns out it was a stingray. WOW WOW! It had to of swam right under my legs and right behind DH’s legs. I gave our water camera to the groom and he snapped a few pictures. COOL Well the bride did not get back into the water until later in the day. We decided to get a little sun and while laying on our loungers noticed a few snorkelers making their way down the beach. When they got right in front of us they stopped and said wow look at that huge stingray. Not sure if it was the same one we saw but we got up and went over to the waters edge and watched it. I even got in a walked along the side of it for a little while and then it stopped. It started getting a little closer to me then I liked so I got out of the water. As we were standing there watching a move away a fish jumped out of the water. We thought it was neat and then it jumped again. It was very long and sliver in color but very thin. It then came back out of the water and I swear it walked across the top of the water with its tail. WHOA we had never seen anything like that. Not sure what kind of fish it was but it was COOL. Castaway turned out to be GREAT. We did notice that a few of the couples we saw were not your normal male female couples. Most of the time we have no problem with this. My aunt the grooms mother has a female live in friend. BUT there was this one group of men and one the stood out more then the others. Lets just say that I am so glad that our daughter did not go on this cruise with us. This man was not dressed correctly for a DISNEY cruise. I do admit if while on the adult beach he wants to dress that way GO FOR IT but we even saw him dressed or should I say under dressed on the ship and some body parts could easily be seen. We did not noticed any women or any other males dressed like that. We went back to the ship and showered for the evening. We tried bingo one more time and did not win. Dinner was at Parrot Cay. This is our favorite. We love the menu selection and the food is great. The live music was great. We walked around the ship once more and headed in for packing up.
Sunday Morning:
We had late breakfast so we slept until 7:00. Very nice. Are we the only ones that feel awkward the following morning after giving your servers their tips? Even when we tip more we still feel like maybe it wasn’t the same as others. I really wish that Disney had a better way of handling that We enjoyed breakfast and walked right off the ship. Since we had used the limo on the way over we had reserved a car one way with Budget. We walked right up and a shuttle was waiting to take us to the agency. There was 2 or 3 people waiting at the counter. 2 returning cars and one guy 24 with no reservation. I think most of the time you need to be 25. Didn’t take long and we had our car. With a coupon for a free upgrade we got the crown victoria. WOW what a nice car. We headed straight for downtown disney and did some shopping at the huge disney store, grabbed lunch at Mcd’s and then headed for the airport. Our flight was at 2:10 and we got to the airport at 12:30. Returned the rental car was very fast. The lines at all the other airlines were LONG. SWA looked great. We had dropped our luggage and stopped in the airport disney store. We got in line around 1:30. We had C group so knew we would be one of the last ones on. Another lady said she checked in at noon and already got a B pass. While waiting in line with 127 people a flight attendant comes up and tells us all that we need to move to the next gate because the plane we need is broken. If you have seen the funny airplane movies you can just about imagine how funny this all looked. There was already a whole bunch of people waiting at the gate we needed. Everyone wanted the same spots in line so everyone RAN. The people waiting were we needed to go would not move out of the way. What a mess. When asking about how many seat our plane had I think they said 130. So not much left over for the four of us to sit near each other. We walk to the far back of the plane. There are only about 10 of us left and we are lucky enough to find 2 rows right behind each other with 2 seat in each on empty. The bride and groom grabs the first 2 and we grab the ones right behind them. The flight home was great even though we were late by about an hour. We ended up getting back home around 8:15 p.m We felt so lucky to have had so much pixie dust come our way. We only have 5 month and 9 days until our 7 day and we can’t wait.
THE END

I am so happy that your whole trip worked out so wonderfully. What a great surprise for your cousin and it sounds like the whole trip was great. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for posting!

I love reading about trips--especially when there are surprises!

Thanks so much for your report!
We were also on the 10/2 wonder!
Amazing how people can have such different experiences on the same cruise!! We had a group of 8, 4 adults and kids (8, 7, 5, 4). We saw all three shows -- loved them! and also spent alot of time at the 80's night, 70's night, etc.
I was surprised that you didn't mention the boat rocking the first night. WOW. It was our second disney cruise and had not experienced that much movement!

P.S. I looked for the bubbles! We were busy dancing on the goofy pool!!!!!!!!!!
