Hi! Just looking for economical ideas for our upcoming anniversary ... usually, we go to WDW or somewhere for our anniversary. But, because we are adopting ANY DAY NOW :) , our plans have certainly not like a usual year!

Anything special you and your spouse have done to celebrate when things weren't the usual? Or any small, but meaningful gifts ideas?

I have been so focused on all the other WONDERFUL things going on in our lives right now, I will admit I have forgotten to get prepared for our anniversary.

We can't really go out of town overnight, because our birthmom has already started to "progress" into labor (meaning she is starting to dialate) ... maybe we will be able to celebrate our aniversary in the hospital. :teeth:

Thanks in advance!!!! :wave2:

p.s. it is our 10th anniversary!

Have you thought about soemthing that can tie in with the baby? Or maybe a new camera (if in budget) for all the pictures you will be taking soon? Have a happy anniversary and good luck on your expected bundle of joy.

How about just making his favotire meal and having a candle light dinner and than watching a movie together. Nothing says you have to go out or even give gifts.
Congratulations on your anniversary and the baby.

What about putting together a scrapbook of the last 10 years. Something that will bring your DH joy now and that you can share with your new child in the years to come. Congrats on the anniversary and adoption!

Anniversary and a baby on the way? Make this anniversary about you two. Nothing about kids. This is your day/night. Make it sexy and special. Make it something to remember.

last year we just went out for a nice dinner and exchanged cards. :) neither of us could really think of any gifts we wanted.

It's funny because I was going to post the SAME question. We will be celebrating out 10th anniversary in June. We are going to Chicago, but I wanted to get him something. Well, my husband has no hobbies. He likes to read, but I don't want to get him a book for our anniversary. He really hates getting gifts. He was very poor when he was growing up. Anytime he did get a gift, it was charity. So, it's been really hard for him to to accept gifts. They don't mean a lot ot him. I love giving gifts, and I easily get my feelings hurt when someone doesn't appreciate a gift I give. So, I've decided I'm going to make him a card on our computer with our wedding picture and in the background I'm going to put either a wedding song or another special song to us. Then on the inside, I'm going to go over our relationship and talk about the special times. DH has kept every single card and note I've ever given him. Even if it was just a note I left on his car on my way out of town to tell him I love him. So, that is what I'm doing, I think.

Maybe you could do something similar from your heart. Congratulations on your baby!!! How exciting.

I'd either do a romantic dinner at home or make a reservation at the most romantic restaurant you can afford. Just enjoy your time together. Your life is about to completely change. It's a wonderful change but a change none the less.

P.S. congratulations on your adoption :D

Congrads on the Anniversary & Adoption!!!:Pinkbounc

When things were tight for us one year we went to a card shop in the mall & picked out our favorites for each other, read them, and then put them back. (Who knows, maybe pick up a thank you card for the birthmother)

With a new little one about to arrive in your life, enjoy the peace. Just snuggle with your beloved and appreciate the quiet moments.;)

I totally agree! I think anniversaries are about *togetherness*, not so much about spending on each other. I think starting with a nice candle light dinner, then perhaps have a trail of flowers petals leading to the family room for your movie, then perhaps a trial of flower petals leading to the bathroom for a nice bath together (a bath with floating rose petals!!) with candles burning!

I have been wondering how the adoption was going. So glad to hear that you are so close now!! Please know that you are in the thoughts and prayers of many people! Also, please be sure to keep us posted!!

Congrats on both counts! What a happy time for you guys.
In my experience Ive found since the kids came along we rarely buy each other anniversary gifts, or any gifts for that matter, any more. Im not working now and anything we really want we buy when we need it. Id prefer to just save the money we would spend on gifts and put it toward one of our trips, or go out to dinner alone, or what Im hoping for my 10th next year, a long weekend to Vegas alone. ;)

I like the dinner at home idea. Congrats on the baby! My boss just adopted a 2 year old from Guatamala. She is beautiful and they just returned home this past weekend. :)

Thanks everyone for all the great ideas! I like the sound of a night in ... but, dh might get suspicious as I don't cook on a regular basis! :teeth:

I am sure that is going to change soon, since I am becoming a stay at home mom! Maybe, I could tell him it was a sign of the new times in our lives! LOL!

Love the bath and trail of rose petals thought... ;)

Thanks again guys!
