Anna, Elsa, and Olaf open edition MagicBands coming to Hollywood Studios

You can but Disney does not sell the special ones without linking it to something. I had to do a massive swap on MDE to get my Yoda one assigned to me and the only reason I was able to do the swap was because my CM friend put her comp ticket on it. Once I had the yoda band in my possession we linked it to her account and the assigned teh ticket on it to someone else.

Resells would not be this easy because you need to be friends with the person on MDE whose ticket is linked to the MB and I believe they could not have actually used the MB yet.

I probably won't buy one off of Ebay then. I may have someone grab me some from WDW though. I guess if they don't link it isn't a big deal.

Disney is so good at finding ways to make money. I admire that.

Do the frozen bands go sale July 5 or a different date? Here now and my magic band order got all messed up so have the gray and would love to have one of these!

Did I see that they are $30 per band??

30 was for the limited edition Star Wars weekend bands. They made sounds at the touch points. I know on the blog the merchandise guy did admit he wasn't 100% sure if the Anna, Elsa, and Olaf ones would make special sounds.

I would pay extra if I could special order it in advance and have it shopped in place of my boring regular magic band. A lot extra. Will I fight the chaos go go buy one at dhs? Probably not.

I have a daughter who's best friend would kill to get an Olaf Magic Band. She has been to Disney with us once in the past, and is hoping to go again next summer.

Does she need to have a current reservation / ticket in order to link it to her, or if she has an account on MDE is that enough? Could I purchase it, and have it linked to her account so that next summer when we go, she would be able to use it?

It has to be linked to a ticket and then if you plan on sending it to someone else the ticket media can not already be linked to someone else and use.

So you could buy her a one day ticket and get the card. You take the card with you to DHS and link it to that ticket. Then no one in your group can use the magic band or ticket until you reassign the band to her on MDE and the ticket to whoever it actually belongs to.

Basically it is super complicated and guest relations probably won't help if you make an error.

Let the madness commence.

I just hope they keep selling these beyond the celebration. I would assume so since they aren't limited editions but who knows with Disney.

This is what I'm hoping as well. I would love to purchase one at the end of September. I really want the Olaf one. :)

According to the blog post they are open edition which means as long as they are popular they will keep selling them. I wouldn't be shocked if we start seeing them all over property by end of July.

I really hope so. One more thing to be excited for. :rotfl:

Can anyone confirm/deny that they make special sounds or lighting effects at the touch points? A comment on the Disney Parks Blog post seemed to suggest that the Frozen ones would NOT do this like the Star Wars ones did.

Ethan, on the Frozen tips thread, it's been confirmed they are decorative bands only without sounds or any other effects.
