Animal Kingdom to Downtown Disney??

I am traveling with a bus group and I do not want to go to the Animal Kingdom park. How do I get to Downtown Disney from the Animal Kingdom park and back, and how long should I allow for transportation? I especially need to know the time returning to the animal kingdom park so I don't miss joining up with the rest of my group. Also, since the animal kingdom park closes earlier than the other parks, what is the latest that busses travel to the animal kingdom park?

To get to DD from the AK, you will need to take a bus from the AK to to one of the resorts and then transfer there to the DD bus. My advice is to take whichever bus comes first that it going to either the AKL, CS, CBR, OKW or one of the All Star Resorts. Those are all on the way to DD, so my assumnption is that the trip will be quicker. Don't go to one of the MK resorts (too far out of the way).

To return to the AK at closing, I'd opt for a cab. That way you'd have no worries about taking too long or just missing a connection or not making whatever the last bus to AK was. My estimate of price is $12 - $15, depending on how much you want to tip the driver.
