1. If I FP the Safari at 9:30 would I have plenty of time to arrive at RD, walk through some of the Discovery trails (assuming they're open) before my FP window closes?

2. How long does Donald's Dining Safari at Tusker House take? More or less than 2 hours?

3. If our lunch was over at 2:05 and we had to wait for the next Lion King show is there anything to do in that area to kill time, or should we skip it at that point and try to catch it after we've gone through the park.

4. How long is the walk from Tusker House to the Kali Rapids?

5. How long do the trails take to walk through assuming you're stopping and looking at the animals?

6. Would you skip the Dinoland area to attend shows or skip shows to explore Dinoland?

What time does the park open the day you're going? You might have time to do one trail. I would try to do the Pangani Trail which is nearer the Safari and do the Discovery Trail after your meal if you get out after FotLK has started

I'd count on about 1.5 hours or so. It can take some time for all the characters to make the rounds.

There is sometimes entertainment in the area in front of TH; there are shops also.

I don't remember exactly, about 10 minutes IIRC.

5. How long do the trails take to walk through assuming you're stopping and looking at the animals?

20 minutes or so

I think Dinoland is a waste of Disney space, other than Dinosaur. I'd try to get that done, then attend shows Flights of Wonder and Nemo.

Tues Aug 25

  • Eat breakfast in room
  • Take bus to AK at 8am
  • Park opens at 9am
  • Walk through Oasis and Discovery Trails
  • FP+ Safari 10am
  • Pangani Trail
  • Lunch at Tusker House for Donald’s Safari at 11:15am
  • 1pm Lion King show (if we miss this we'll head to Maharajah Trails)
  • FP+ 2pm Kali Rapids
  • Maharajah Trails
  • FP+Expo Everest 3pm
  • Nemo/Flights of Wonder (we'll try to get both done depending on their schedule)
  • Dinner at Quick Service when hungry (Flame Tree BBQ)

Not sure when the park closes, I've seen a 5pm and a 7pm time listed. If it is the earlier 5pm time we will hold off on dinner and do a QS back at our resort. If the park closes at the later time we will try to stop in at Dinoland. While I've heard Dinosaur is a good ride we'll have at least 2 kids too short to ride so I'm not sure if it will make the cut this trip. Planet watch is a no go because its relatively long and I'm not sure it will hold the kids interest. Bugs life is too scary for the 2 year olds so it's a pass as well.

I think that covers what we want to see with some wiggle room. If it rains we'll probably stick it out poncho style.
